I feel like those of us who see what's happening and don't like are outnumbered by the folks who see it and love it and those who just can't be bothered to pay attention.I don't like where any of this is headed. And anyone who is truly "of America and for America" shouldn't either.
I watched "All the President's Men" on Turner Classic Movies just the other night. It's a sign of how far our media - and we - have fallen that the Washington Post has moved from a crusading newspaper that was unafraid to challenge even a US President if they had evidence he was committing criminal acts to what will now be just another echo of the right-wing news media that now dominates the country. And MSNBC has clearly moved in the same direction by firing pretty much every liberal commentator, most of whom are minorities. This is exactly what Orban did in Hungary - either intimidate and bully Hungary's news media into doing his bidding or just have his wealthy supporters buy them and turn them into little more than mouthpieces for his policies. So much for the once-mighty and respected Washington Post, which will now become little more than a mouthpiece for Trumpism - a newspaper that in Trump's first term warned that "democracy dies in darkness." Indeed, Jeff Bezos, indeed. So Jeff Bezos became a Koch brother. Didn't see that coming.
I will be waiting with bated breath for the Post’s reproductive freedom commentary.
I did that when they refused to endorse.Trying to lobby my wife to cancel our WaPo subscription.
She cancelled Prime then, but wanted to support the WaPo journalists. Today I said now a subscription is just propping up an oligarch and she agreed.I did that when they refused to endorse.
Bezosland, Musklandia, and Trumpylvania are certainly bastions of freedom and places lacking in coercion.
Anyone who says “of America and for America” in this era is either a fascist or a wannabe fascist.I don't like where any of this is headed. And anyone who is truly "of America and for America" shouldn't either.
Sarcasm? So Jeff Bezos became a Koch brother. Didn't see that coming.
Trying to lobby or Lobbying to try to get her to agree to cancel?Trying to lobby my wife to cancel our WaPo subscription.
