Appearing With Trump, Musk Makes Broad Claims of Federal Fraud Without Proof

The billionaire, whose federal cost-cutting team has been operating in secrecy, asserted that he had uncovered waste and fraud across the bureaucracy, without offering evidence.

“… Answering questions from the media for the first time since his arrival in Washington to run the Department of Government Efficiency, Mr. Musk stood next to the Resolute Desk and asserted that his work was in the interest of the public and democracy. President Trump sat behind the desk, chiming in with approval as he let the world’s richest man expound for roughly 30 minutes on the rationale for the drastic overhaul of the federal bureaucracy.

The goal is to “restore democracy,” Mr. Musk said. “If the bureaucracy’s in charge, then what meaning does democracy actually have?”

Among Mr. Musk’s claims, which he offered without providing evidence, was that some officials at the now-gutted U.S. Agency for International Development had been taking “kickbacks.”

He said that “quite a few people” in the bureaucracy somehow had “managed to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position,” without explaining how he had made that assessment.

He later claimed that some recipients of Social Security checks were as old as 150. …”

“… “We are actually trying to be as transparent as possible,” Mr. Musk said, referring to postings by his team on his social media site, X. “So all of our actions are maximally transparent.”

He continued, “I don’t know of a case where an organization has been more transparent than the DOGE organization.”

In reality, Mr. Musk’s team is operating in deep secrecy: surprising federal employees by descending upon agencies and gaining access to sensitive data systems. Mr. Musk himself is a “special government employee,” which, the White House has said, means his financial disclosure filing will not be made public.

Mr. Musk’s appearance came at what was billed a presidential signing of new executive orders related to his cost-cutting initiative. The text of the executive order, which was made public after the event ended, ordered agency heads to pursue “large-scale” work force reductions and gave Mr. Musk’s team an expanded role in overseeing any subsequent hiring at certain agencies. …”

Continued

“… Asked about the possibility of his own conflicts of interest, given that some of Mr. Musk’s companies have contracts with agencies like the Defense Department, Mr. Musk said, “First of all, I’m not the one filing the contract.”

“It’s the people at SpaceX or something,” said Mr. Musk, the founder of SpaceX….”

Musk shows why he’s such a powerful ally for Trump and would be an even more menacing enemy

“… But the show was about more than a bid to tamp down growing political consternation over Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

It was an unmistakable statement that true power in Washington lies not with the Congress or the courts, but somewhere in the rich mix of egos between the world’s most powerful man and the world’s richest person.

… And no one should miss this: Trump was immovably installed behind the Resolute Desk, as Musk stood to his right – in a rebuke of a Time Magazine cover that showed the Tesla chief in the seat where the buck stops. …”

Yeah, that might be a singularly most humiliating press conference from an optics standpoint that a United States president has ever conducted. In fact, it’s pretty obvious that Trump is not even the president. Or rather, he is PINO. Serious question – has any other person besides a sitting POTUS **ever** delivered remarks or answered questions from the press behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office? In other words, any POTUS ever allow themselves to be so publicly cucked in front of the entire nation and entire world in as humiliating a fashion?

Elon Musk appears with Trump and tries to claim ‘Doge’ team is transparent

Key presidential ally, whose agency has operated in secrecy, also makes claim – without evidence – of fraud at USAid

“… The most startling claim centered on his insistence that the Doge team had been transparent about its activities as it had swept through roughly 20 agencies, seeking the removal of career officials who stood in his way and accessing sensitive data systems.

“We are actually trying to be as transparent as possible,” Musk said, referring to what Doge has posted on X. “So all of our actions are maximally transparent. I don’t know of a case where an organization has been more transparent than the Doge organization.”

In reality, Musk has taken great pains to conceal how Doge has operated, starting with his own involvement in the project. Musk himself is a “special government employee”, which the White House has said means his financial disclosure filing will not be made public.

The Doge team involves about 40 staffers, but the actual number is not known. Staffers have tried to keep their identities private and refused to give their last names to career officials at the agencies they were detailed to, the Guardian has previously reported.

Musk has also tried to stop Doge staffers from being identified. When the Wall Street Journal reported that one 25-year-old staffer, Marko Elez, had made racist posts on an anonymous X account in recent months, Musk called for the reporter who wrote the story to be fired….”

Also, they reconstituted DOGE under the Presidential Records Act to try to protect it from FOIA and other disclosure ever — it appears firing the National Archivist was because that position determines what data the POTUS can destroy without public disclosure under the PRA.

I was embarrassed for Trump, and I can't stand the guy. That's how bad it was. There is no way to spin it.

I think we are at a point where we should refer to Trump as the co-president or, as you posted, a PINO😏

The optics were so humiliating for him that I actually felt a twinge of compassion for him. Old, feeble man submissively hunched over the Resolute while the President of the United States delivers remarks and answers questions from the press.
