I agree with the part about where the money is coming from and personally I believe that's the bigger story here. We recently renamed the football field for a single $20 million donation. Now we're going to provide $20 million every year in NIL in addition to paying $10 million to BB plus all the other coaches on the staff? That's one serious step up in dollars, so who is providing it? The AD doesn't have that kind of money to throw around.I really don't know what to think of the hire other than to agree with the "boom or bust" concept. There's no middle ground here. What I do not understand is where the money comes from. That part I just do not "get". I know you have to spend money to make money and it could turn out to be a fantastic investment. I'm not questioning any of that...but where? What's the source? It's an incredible amount of money to just suddenly throw at football.
I'm also worried about how it might impact our coaches, etc in other programs. We are pretty underfunded across the board. It likely won't take long for them all to start being really questioning of the discrepancy.
John Cherry once told me on the golf course that UNC had enough and would always have enough money to do whatever it pleased to do.I agree with the part about where the money is coming from and personally I believe that's the bigger story here. I know it’s his money but it’s about effing time, if true. There seem to be credible rumblings....
UNC could have the best basketball team every year if MJ was willing to pay for it.I know it’s his money but it’s about effing time, if true.
Any why wouldn’t he be? He has more money than he could ever spend.UNC could have the best basketball team every year if MJ was willing to pay for it.
For some reason he's spending it on NASCAR.Any why wouldn’t he be? He has more money than he could ever spend.
He can afford both! For some reason he's spending it on NASCAR.
More attention, more interest, more money.I really don't know what to think of the hire other than to agree with the "boom or bust" concept. There's no middle ground here. Yeah, I just think UNC leans pretty hard on Jordan and expects him to save us from everything basketball/sports.Honestly a top level UNC program plays into Jordan's legacy as well, which we know he cares about.
What has he done previously?Yeah, I just think UNC leans pretty hard on Jordan and expects him to save us from everything basketball/sports.
I hope he gets involved formally, but dang!
