Hopefully action can be taken to contain it.

“… So far 26 cases have been confirmed, and eight of the sickened people have died, Health Minister Sabin Nsanzimana said on Sunday night.

The public has been urged to avoid physical contact to help curb the spread. Some 300 people who came into contact with those confirmed to have the virus have also been identified, and an unspecified number of them have been put in isolation facilities….”

Oddly, it might get to be a bigger problem if it evolves to be less deadly. Right now, it kills such a high percentage, it burns itself out when the hosts aren't as able to spread it. Not an unusual disease adaptation , either. Iirc, that happened with syphilis when it first reached Europe.

Hard to get laid with massive sores covering most of your body

Fwiw, even later, there was still no real concept of hygiene. The age of consent wasn't of much benefit when it became a legal concept since the maturity to decide didn't particularly seem important.

  • Delaware: In 1871, Delaware lowered the age of consent from 10 to 7 years old. In 1880, Delaware had the youngest age of consent in the country at 7 years old.

  • 1899: In some American jurisdictions, the age of consent was 9 years old.

  • 1999: Hawaii had the lowest age of consent in the country at 14 years old.

Send Trump to go check it out
FLASHBACK

“…
In reality, Ebola’s symptoms are milder than the liquefying organs and extreme hemorrhaging of lore, and it only spreads with difficulty, through direct contact with the bodily fluids of infected patients. But such facts evaporated amid the flames of widespread panic. And no single person fanned those flames with more enthusiasm than Trump.

On July 31, two days before Brantly was due to be evacuated (and almost a year before Trump began his campaign by descending down a gold escalator), Trump tweeted, “Ebola patient will be brought to the U.S. in a few days—now I know for sure that our leaders are incompetent. KEEP THEM OUT OF HERE!”

A day later he added, “Stop the EBOLA patients from entering the U.S. Treat them, at the highest level, over there. THE UNITED STATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS!”

And later that evening, “The U.S. cannot allow EBOLA infected people back. People that go to far away places to help out are great—but must suffer the consequences!”

The next day: “The fact that we are taking the Ebola patients, while others from the area are fleeing to the United States, is absolutely CRAZY—Stupid pols.”

And also: “The U.S. must immediately stop all flights from EBOLA infected countries or the plague will start and spread inside our ‘borders.’ Act fast!” …”
