That doc My Octopus Teacher really messed me up. I can't eat octopus in restaurants anymore. It just seems like they have so much cognition -- its freaky. Octopus are way underestimated as an apex species.

I went lobstering in the Florida Keys a few weeks ago. They weren’t sentient enough to evade a “tickle stick,” but they were certainly delicious, and I give them thanks for their service.

Maybe you’re just underestimating them. I know when my wife breaks out the tickle stick, I’m not going anywhere.

Never have understood why humans thought there was such a gap between them and the rest of the animal kingdom. Not much, other than the ability to record and pass on knowledge that is unique to us. They even get high and party.
