Do you have any idea how many people you lose when you try to fire up a liberal/progressive base? It's a lot. It's quite a lot. Now, maybe you pick up more than you lose, but you lose a TON when you move to a more liberal/progressive platform. If progressives won't turn out to support a moderate candidate that is MUCH closer to them than the alternative, why do you think moderates will turn out to support a progressive who is just as polarizing to them as the alternative?
You’ve got no idea what a progressive would do in a general election because we haven’t had one.

I’m so fucking sick of liberals thinking they know everything about what the general electorate wants when we haven’t had a progressive populist candidate in the general election in my lifetime. Meanwhile a progressive populist came within a hair of knocking off an incumbent Republican in a ruby red state.

I hope he really does put 200% tariffs on everything from China and Mexico but I think it was all a lie.

IT…DIDN’T…MATTER.

There’s no different strategy that would have mattered. If she had done what you mention, it would have alienated the suburbans who didn’t like Trump. We’re so divided right now that 47% will vote for (R) to matter what

Yup
2045 - the demographic flip - when whites are not the majority, especially white men. That is what is going on.

Numerous people who worked inside the Trump admin tried to tell people what a threat Trump is to democracy, what an idiot he is, how immoral he is....

Half of the voting public - We know Trump better than you.
Yeah. This is not the Dems fault. It’s squarely on the people who voted Trump. They are to blame. One can’t blame the Democratic Party didn’t do the right thing because people voted the way they did. Look around you, on average half of those people are either greedy, racist, stupid, or all three. And that’s how it is. Were in some cross section of fascism, populism, and idiocracy. This is all new to me. I’ve never seen anything like it

But I’m old enough to have had a parent who was around in the Korean War and who grew up during WWII. These people today, through lack of education amongst other complex factors, have no idea what this moronic approach means and how dangerous it is. And trying to tell them it was bad was like arguing with a sign post. It’s fucked up all the way around. I will hold my friends close, giving up on most everyone else. Tired of this fight for a higher good.

Suffice it to say, I hope during the upcoming economic and social downfall, that these trumpers suffer disproportionately to a higher degree.

I’m depressed too. My argument isn’t that liberals weren’t fired up enough, it’s that the liberal party didn’t present a strong enough economic message to break through to people who don’t follow politics like we do.

Harris’ campaign strategy was not to fire up a liberal/progressive base and drive out their support. It was kind of the opposite. They thought there would be enough suburban women who would make up for them losing working class voters who are primarily concerned with their day to day pocketbook issues. 2016 all over again and the party learned nothing.
The issue is, just like 2016, the economy is currently WELL above average historically due to mostly prudent policies of the past four years, and organ grinder monkey bamboozled them into thinking it wasn't. There is no realistic message. I mean, they could go into fantasy land with 'no taxes, tariffs will pay for everything and make things cheaper' but holy crap, as a nation, we are so far removed from economic reality I don't know what brings us back. I hope the insane economic Santa Claus Trump has put forth shakes us from this, but it may be too late.

Said it percectly

This isn't 2016 to me, I was blindsided then. I know who we are as a country now so this was to be expected, we'll get through the next four years just like we did the first four. It will suck and our country will be worse off but we'll get through it.
Will we get through it if trump gives Ukraine to Putin and Putin doesn't stop there? How does a land war in Europe sound?
Will we get through it if trump imposes 20% tariffs on imports and 25% on Mexico and causes a major recession?
Will we get through it if trump deports 10,000,000 people and we have no one to do the jobs Americans don't want to do?
Will we get through it if trump carries out threats against the media and we no longer get real news?

There’s absolutely 0 way for you to know that. Her whole strategy was predicated on suburban voters and it didn’t work. Instead she lost people in the base that she could’ve turned out. She chose to kiss and hug Liz Cheney instead.

Y’all can’t seriously think there is nothing Harris could’ve done to win this campaign. Look at the numbers.

2016 wasn’t about the economy at all, so I don’t think that point is relevant.

I hope she contests every single damn state she can legally do so. And she better not concede

I'll say it again - all these people criticizing the Harris campaign should defend Trump's campaign for the past three weeks. He was practically doing everything he could to not get elected, and yet people - and this time an apparent popular vote majority - voted for him anyway. If Trump does win a majority of the popular vote, what could Harris have done to win over people who saw Trump's campaign and thought that he was in any way the best candidate? It's mind boggling, no matter what anyone says about inflation or the economy.

No. My world will not remain the same.

I’m dating a woman who’s an immigration attorney. Her world is about to get fucked. The world of the folks she works with and tries to help is about to get fucked. Ergo, my world is about to get fucked.

Fuck you.
Her billable hours should skyrocket. Congrats

Life is still good.

Ignore all political noise and live your best life. Enjoy the things you like. Love the people you love.

It will be okay.
Except for those women miscarrying or with ectopic pregnancies or other pregnancies with problems……

Or trans kids and adults……

Or Americans negatively impacted by tariffs…..
