People want Dems to stand up to Trump and Pubs

The Democratic Party’s favorability rating among Americans stands at a record low, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, fueled in part by dimming views from its own frustrated supporters.

With many in the party saying publicly that their leaders should do more to stand up to President Donald Trump, Democrats and Democratic-aligned independents say, 57% to 42%, that Democrats should mainly work to stop the Republican agenda, rather than working with the GOP majority to get some Democratic ideas into legislation.

Democratic connection to voters have been going down since at least 2012. So no surprise that their favorable ratings are sliding. And this confirms why such a bad candidate like Trump is able to outperform in two of his elections.

I want our party to stand up as well, but we first need new leadership that understands you can't call everyone who doesn't agree with the far left 100% a racist, sexist, ageist, homophobe, etc. We need some consensus building around what is important to the working person so we can take advantage of the blunders the Tyrant and his goons are making and start winning power back.

Sorry, it's just not in their DNA...

As history has demonstrated for decades, the Dem party is an excellent governing party but has been mediocre at best as an opposition party. The current Dem party is still stuck in the halcyon days when Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill could find some common ground and negotiate a compromise for the good of the country.

Those days are over, Chuck. Hand over the minority leader gavel to Chris Murphy.

There are two things Democrats could do and they'd seldom lose elections if at all. I wish the Democrats would give me something I could vote for. Instead, I just keep writing in someone who I actually like.

I don’t think it matters much what Democrats say or do. They have no platform to spread anything they say. There is no liberal equivalent of the right wing disinformation bubble.
Totally agree. The only thing that will change things is mass suffering. Short of an economic depression and/or mass extermination event(s), the "right wing disinformation bubble" will remain unchecked.

In what way does "leadership" do that? It's so weird to say that Dems not only agree with the far left 100% but actually enforce that as an ideology, since the far left has no real place or footing within the party.

The problem is when people conflate Kendi and anti-racism stuff with the Dems.

That's at least a sensible candidate for new leadership. I've been puzzling over Mark Kelly for a while (floated by a different poster). I really don't know what would make a good leader right now. Passing the torch seems fair. I have no reason, at this point, to prefer Murphy to some other names like Murray. A Mur-battle!

Like with other things (gender transition surgeries for illegal, incarcerated criminals), Democrats make no effort, at least that I've seen, to distance themselves from the ideas of racial pornographers like Kendi and DiAngelo.

I was unaware that Kendi and DiAngelo created Birth of a Nation.

Admittedly, I had no idea who they were before this thread, but so it goes.
