RIP Bob Uecker

First time I ever heard of Bob Uecker was in a Miller Lite Ad. The "Uh, I must be in the front row" ad. He was hilarious. Some work colleagues who were familiar with him, filled me in on his MLB "career" and how witty he was even before he was paid to be witty. There is something enduringly endearing about someone who can not only make fun of himself, but to do so in a manner that makes others laugh also. Laughter is a rare commodity in our society. It's sad to learn that someone who effortlessly generated laughter is with us no more.

My exposure to him was really only Major League and Norm MacDonald. Of which this always makes me laugh enormously:

My first exposure to him was Mr. Belvedere. I had no idea who he was, but one night circa 1985 while I was watching Mr. Belvedere, my dad walked in and said, “That’s Bob Uecker.”

In all of the articles and remembrances for Uecker, I ran across this fever dream of a Miller Lite ad...
