So let me guess the #1 topic on Fox News

Based on replies on social media to completely non-political topics, I'm guessing the MAGA fever is currently about Somali daycare fraud in Minnesota.

How did I do?

Not seeing Somali daycare, but still fanning outrage against them Dems!

It’s fascinating to see how sheep like they become. A friend sent me this today because I asked what he thought given he lives in Minneapolis. It’s all over the place on social media.

Is the fraud not that big of a deal? I’m not understanding what seems like a liberal effort to basically hand-wave this away.
I can only speak for myself. Im making no effort to hand-wave anything. Im just remarking on how insane the fever swamps of MAGA are that one can be looking at completely apolitical topics and still know precisely what is being fed to the Fox News crowd because those folks flood the zone with regurgitations.

I think the hand-waving is directed at Trump's justice department which is acting like it uncovered this case. The Biden DOJ filed the first charges in 2022, and Trump is acting like this was some sort of Democratic cover up.

And given that Trump in May commuted the sentence of a person convicted of Medicare Fraud... I'm not sure what we're supposed to make of this. It's clearly a crime and I'm happy to see the DOJ prosecuting serious criminals. But there's something untoward about the amount of attention being paid to these charges, and an unsettling emphasis on the national origins of the alleged criminals.

It's like when he blows up boats he says are carrying drugs but pardons drug kingpins. It's almost enough to make you think the criminality isn't the central issue.

And using it as an excuse to deport Somalis, when on a percentage basis twice as may Republicans senators committed Medicaid fraud as Somalis did in this case.

For the record, I 100% believe that anyone found to be guilty of defrauding the government in excess of a million dollars should be executed, preferably publicly and with great fanfare. I realize that is medieval but those folks deserve it and it rots our society.

My stance could also be based on the fact that a former business partner did this and I would still rip his throat from his body if given the opportunity. Stole 4 Million in PPP fraud and spent 14 months in a glorified country club. No disincentive at all.

1. It's small time fraud. Maybe medium-time. That's not hand-waving anything away. There were like 100 people who collectively stole $1B. Sam Bankman Fried alone stole 10x that. Rick Scott alone stole twice that.

Fraud on this scale is not that unusual. This fraud is being amplified primarily because of Ilhan Omar, and also "they're eating the dogs and cats" racism.

2. I'm not going to engage in both-siding. The GOP is basically an organized criminal organization at the moment, with fraud and grift around most corners. These media stories are bad faith, and that's why I don't want to engage with it. Let the justice system deal with it. Note that the story about Walz participating in it are lies. Move on.

If we're going to start publicly executing people, a small-time $1M fraudster is pretty far down the list of candidates. Let's start with government officials who murder people. I'd start with Pete Hegseth and go from there.

Other things to note. The leader of the main organization involved was white. This started as pandemic fraud. Suspicion started as early as 2020.

Iow, the Somalis are not the brains behind this. I don't doubt they were enthusiastic participants but this was not some immigrant plot against America. The Republicans neither caught what was happening under their watch nor did they initiate anything about this until they could turn it into a racist screed.
