Russian ships have left. Appears their bases are very much at risk despite Vlad's claim of an "agreement.

I don't engage with anyone spewing Putin's propaganda, and I have no energy for explaining to them why the propaganda is ridiculous. Do your own research, son.
You are ducking having to support your “direct result” comment. How is Putin’s propaganda relevant?

Do you really think a super important guy like that would take the time to write some long meandering post with multiple bullets explaining his confusing position? He's too busy writing fiction about armed MAGA rednecks shutting down schools, bragging about having sex with his wife and looking for a new job at a top 75 law school in the Midwest. I actually read he had left the board and was never coming back. I just hope he reconsiders and comes back to grace us with his long winded superior intellect on every subject one can imagine.

Super can be a bit verbose and self important but this criticism is rich coming from the most obtuse poster on this board.

Quite confident you're offering far too much benefit of the doubt by labeling him obtuse. His apparent inoculation to fact after fact after fact isn't for lack of ability. He's a mundane shit stirrer, and because of the mundanity he is the most successful troll on this board, IMO.

Now that the dogs (Rebels) have finally caught the car (Assad), do they know what to do with it? I'm guessing they'll probably just piss on the tires.

Unfortunately, it’ll likely be similar to Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iran (1979 to now), Cambodia (Khmer Rouge)……the “rebels” take power and install drastic measures.

Yes, particularly worried about the Khmer Rouge example with Syrians understandably wanting to return home to rebuild after 50 years of brutal despotic regimes.

“…
It is estimated by rights groups that more than 30,000 detainees had either been executed or died as a result of torture, lack of medical care or starvation between 2011 and 2018. Citing accounts from the few released inmates, at least another 500 detainees had been executed between 2018 and 2021, the Association of the Missing and Detainees in Saydnaya Prison (AMDSP) said in 2022.

In 2017, the US State Department claimed that authorities had constructed a possible crematoriumon the site to dispose of the remains of murdered prisoners. …

Since the downfall of the Assad regime, civilians have been urged to avoid rushing through the perimeter of the prison. Rights groups say the exterior of the complex is known to be heavily mined. A ring of anti-tank munitions runs around the exterior of the prison, with a secondary ring of anti-personnel mines running through the centre of the facility. …”

“… The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, says almost 60,000 people were tortured and killed in the Assad government's prisons.

Human rights groups say more than 100,000 people have disappeared since Assad ordered a brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protests in 2011 that triggered the civil war. …”

For reference, the Syrian population is currently over 25 million. That means about 0.004% of the population was “disappeared” by the Assad regime (and this population growth chart from Worldometer tells the story of the civil war generally —

Regardless of what government eventually comes out of Syria, they aren't going to have an Air Force or a Navy.

Hard to be optimistic about Syria’s future given the history of the region. Much more likely to evolve into a Taliban type state than a liberal democracy.

We’re all still waiting for the Middle East’s Thomas Jefferson.

WSJ analyst said that the incoming leadership is committed to creating a "Syria for everyone", "protecting minority groups" among other niiiiiice things.

The odds of that seem incredibly slim.

If I'm a Christian in Syria, which is apparently about 10% of the population, I am getting the hell out of there as quickly as possible.

Most already got out. The 10% is a pre-war figure. It's closer to 2% now.

Everyone has their unique personality, which is going to come out in their forum posts. Who cares, right? Nothing here is life or death or even worth getting worked up about.

True.

I do wish the amateur shit stirrers would step up their game. If we have to put up with it, do it better. Hints and allegations are so last year.

Who's worked up? Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself.

He isn't looking for a job. Nobody, could spend as much time posting on a message board and be productively working (morally working) or looking for a job. His job is the zzl.
