telehealth gaps or incompetence for a head-cold

I've been sick since Dec 22 with what feels like three different "colds". First it was tons of congestion. A few days after Xmas I was getting a little better, but than major sinus and molar pain drove me to the Disney Cruiseship's dr, who gave me amoxicillin & pseudoephed... the molar area didn't really improve til 5 days after beginning the amox. At that same time i developed a little dry cough that morphed into an extremely persistent cough, followed by a 101 fever for days, followed by tons of congestion and more coughing. At two different times, about a week apart I've lost my sense of smell for a few days.

For sake of time i'm tempted to get a telehealth dr appt. What are cons of going this route instead waiting X days to see my family dr?

I’m just a pharmacist but sounds like you need your molar looked at, probably a Covid test and maybe a chest x-ray. Is your family doctor part of a larger system with an urgent care? I’d go there.

Good points. I actually took 3 covid tests including the combo flu A/ flu B and was negative pre-cruise. But more can't hurt.

I'm pretty confident the molar issue was a sinus complication. Pushing, crunching on it didn't hurt. And it doesn't hurt anymore as of like 2 or 3 days ago. But that whole region blew up during the flights... the pain kinda migrated to the lower molars on the same side, and got a bit worse behind my eye... then the entire region was improved (though not entirely resolved) after landing. And it had the traits of hurting more when leaning over which I believe is sinus-driven.

No, I get the flu shot every other year on average, depending on how busy I am. I got the first covid shot, and the booster. But this year I was too lazy to get either. Despite being surrounded by many covid victims (including my wife multiple times) i've never tested positive for covid - and I catch EVERYTHING. Similarly, my Dad has never gotten covid despite being 80, having copd from military, being prone to colds, coughs, pneumonia.... so we were beginning to think I was one of the lucky few immune to covid.
 
I currently work as a PA in urgent care.

I would recommend an in person visit so you can have accurate vitals taken and have someone actually look at you, listen to lungs, etc.

A telehealth visit would likely result in someone just throwing more medicine at you and not much diagnosis.

If your current symptoms have been present for more than four or five days, Covid or flu testing probably won’t be very helpful. However, depending on what your lungs sound like and what your vitals are like a chest x-ray may be indicated.

Good to hear. Had you answered otherwise, by suggestions would have been bleach and horse de-wormers with periodic additions of essential oils.

Go to urgent care or the ER. This could easily become a serious infection if it hasn't already. And if your lungs are being damaged, things can go from bad to really bad in a hurry.
