I'm going to go out on a limb and say scam artists

The fact that the parents seem to be actively participating in all of those "tests" in that trailer is sus

Not going to invest 7 hours into this series but I read some reviews online to get a sense of what's entailed.

Yep, not convinced this is legit. Interesting sure. Call me when they get scientifically tested.

Here's a few red flags for me:
  1. The doctor involved - Dr. Powell - claims her medical license was revoked after she published her book on this subject but after the board read the book her license was reinstated. She's lying. Her license was suspended for being a bad doctor with a laundry list of unethical behavior. They reinstated her but instituted a list of conditions. Her license has now lapsed. The fake claim of censorship is a bad sign.
  2. The journalist behind this series - Ky Dickens - is not an objective observer here. She has a brother who is a high-functioning autist. She wants to believe.
  3. These tests scream of facilitated communication. Facilitated communication is a well known group of debunked methods to simulate advanced communication with individuals who have disabilities. They are clearly on display here when the caregivers are given the answers and then get to interact with the subjects using either boards, physical touch or visual cues. If these children had telepathy - there is no reason the parents should be involved in the testing at all. Look up facilitated communication.
  4. The footage of these tests are being sold behind a paywall for $9.99
  5. They make a lot of excuses for why telepathy sometimes fails - like anxiety, negatively, hate, skepticism! No doubt these are the excuses you would hear when subjected to rigorous scientific testing.
  6. Apparently by the end of the series the claims about special abilities expands beyond telepathy to include communicating with dead ancestors and ghosts, meeting each other on a spiritual plane of existence, predicting the future and healing people.
This appears to be another sad tale of profiting off of families who are desperate for hope when it comes to their children with disabilities. They're told they might never speak or have a normal life but then here come these experts who are now convinced they may actually have supernatural powers. And just like every conspiracy ever told - the MAINSTREAM science doesn't want you to know about it. Rinse repeat.
