The start to 2025 and Trump

I will give the same advice I have been giving since November 6 or so: I think it is generally unproductive and unhelpful to get yourself too worked up in advance about what Trump may or might do. Both because it is harmful to your mental health and outlook, and because constant fearmongering about Trump doing terrible things is part of what has helped normalize his behavior and policies (when the end result is inevitably not quite as dire as predicted).

To be clear, I'm not suggesting apathy. We should be vigilant and prepared to act in response to what Trump does. I just don't think it is healthy for us (collectively or individually) to work ourselves into a lather anticipating disaster.
 
But seriously this man is a fucking moron and criminal. He is surrounding himself with morons and criminals. He is a grifter who has zero interest in doing what is best for America and yet tens of millions of Americans idolize him. That is terrifying.

I am steadily returning to Reagan Era Mode.
 
I just don’t think people realize that in his first term Trump was surrounded with some competent people and it was still horrible. This time he won’t be surrounded by those people.
