Had some sleet yesterday and overnight. Right now it is 34 and raining, the worse weather possible. It's miserable. I hope the winter stoirm works out for here this weekend, but it'll probably turn into 34 and rain, too.

Looks and sounds like the rain is mixing with sleet and freezing rain here. I can see some ice on the trees.

Models are still all over the place with how much snow vs ice we will get in NC. No consensus at all yet, and some models like the GFS are going back and forth with results.

I do like the last Canadian run.

The Southeast weather center guy on Facebook is bullish on the snow chance.

Weather channel is also giving really good odds. I hope FINALLY we get something good. It's been years

Weather Channel has the most bullish snow forecast (predicted for Friday) I’ve seen for Charlotte in quite some time. I’ll believe it when I see it.

....squirrels. It's about to get cold.

Multiple Arctic outbreaks to affect more than 250 million in central, eastern US into mid-January

The central, southern and eastern United States are bracing for the coldest, most persistent frigid Arctic air in years that will come in waves and last through mid-January. Storms packing snow and ice will join in.

Round after round after round of Arctic air is poised to plunge into the central and eastern United States. AccuWeather meteorologists warn that each outbreak of Arctic air has the potential to bring colder air farther south than the previous round and will lead to a major surge in energy demands and the risk of freeze-related damage in the Southern states.

The magnitude and extent of the Arctic air will build into the first full week of January and linger through the middle of the month and will, at times, affect more than 250 million people living in more than 40 states in the Central and Eastern regions.

Going to merge this with the existing Weather thread but kudos for the creative thread title “Time to hide your nuts”

Don’t do this to yourself
I love his enthusiasm but something always goes wrong the closer we get tot he event. At this point I will believe it when I see it. And that’s sad.

I’ve been following Southeastern Weather Forum since about 2008 and I have loved tracking storms and getting my boys all amped up. But around 2015 it started being busy after bust. It’s like being a State fan. I can’t take alll the disappointment yet here I am following this storm dammit. How will I be betrayed this time!!!!!!!
