So incredibly sad and pathetic what McCants allowed himself to become. He was my favorite player when I was in middle school and first started following Tar Heel basketball. I'm not sure we've seen a UNC player since with his combination of size, athleticism, shooting touch, and playmaking ability all rolled into one. He could have been a phenomenal pro player if he hadn't been such a headcase.

At some point in McCants’ high school career, he talked about how he wanted to be regarded as a defensive stopper……that he’d shut down JJ Redick.

All one had to do is watch McCants at UNC to realize he had no interest in defense.

Headcase is right. It's no excuse for what he's said and done, but he clearly isn't right in the head and likely never has been. He doesn't need more publicity to spread his bullshit, what he really needs is a good shrink.
