Things the Internet Killed, Unfortunately

I was just thinking back to growing up in the Charlotte area and looking forward to watching Football Friday Night after the game, watching Delano Little and Paul Cameron. And that's really not a thing anymore because of youtube highlights, live score streaming, etc. (it still airs but I know folks don't crave it with YouTube and live scores, unlike back in the day - and even now it's just 15 minutes then you have to switch to streaming...as opposed to the solid hour we got in the 80s and 90s). Something about the innocence of ignorance, if you will. We didn't have access to as much real-time information, so we looked forward to the newspaper, etc. I mean, these days, kids who play sports never really get articles written about their team, so much, do they?

It's just something lost in time. But what else is something you miss from the pre-internet days (or even during the early internet days of 14.4 modems that prevented "on demand" anything)?

WTVD Channel 11 and WRAL Channel 5 used to cover Triangle high school football well with lots of high lights. The News and Observer and Durham Morning Herald had in-depth coverage of Triangle football games - several pages of articles about numerous games.

Small town papers such as the Chapel Hill Newspaper would cover HS football, soccer, basketball, baseball, swimming, drama/theater, the Junior Follies, Apple Chill, etc.

I’m good for a Jordan’s Last Dance rewatch once a year and am currently doing so. So many things in that series make me miss the sports of old. Even despite being born in 85.

I feel like it killed the innocence of childhood overall.

Everything is on camera.

We used to have small worlds...we didn't know much more outside of our communities. Now these kids know everything going on.. In some ways it's cool cause they will be more globally aware. But damn there's no innocence

Encyclopedia Brittanica?
Libraries?
Reading books?
Reading News Papers?
Talking to each other?

Better question is what has it actually made so much better?
