This guy is running to oppose the very troubled and concerned Susan Collins. Hopefully, he will win the Dem primary.

Watch his 2 minute campaign video. It needs to be replicated by all Dems running for Congress.

Nice. He is talking to exactly the group that shifted to Trump and put him in the WH. If Dems can claw that few % back, the cult is out. 🙏

I hope he wins the primary. I hope he gets enough funding to run a serious campaign against Susan Collings. We need people in Washington who (1) are more than "deeply concerned" about the overwhelming asshattery that is the current embodiment of the GOP and (2) are are not content with the meaningless crumbs the GOP throws out and calls compromises. If it comes to it, we need someone who will force St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago to take unforgivable steps like (a) dismissing Congress, (b) arresting legislators for refusing to rubber-stamp his give-aways to the multi-billionaires, or (c) revealing his obeisance to foreign dictators just because they have embarassing videos of him.

hell yeah. we need more graham platner's all over the country. everyman/woman who anyone would want to drink a beer with and who understands and wants to address the issues facing the vast majority of the people in this country.

In case you might want to kick in a small appreciation donation. I sent this guy $100 just because I love his campaign video:cool:

Maine isn’t far removed from a right-wing, Trumplican two-term Republican Governor.

Maine last elected a Democrat to the US Senate in 1988. There is no George Mitchell or Edmund Muskie running in the 2026 Democratic primary for US Senate.

Collins was deemed vulnerable in 2019-20 because of her support for Trumplican judicial candidates and the likelihood that SCOTUS would overturn Roe.

The DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee - read that as Chuck Schumer) “cleared the field” for a “pleasantly attractive,” youngish, college-educated, white woman (it’s Maine) named Sarah Gideon. Truly someone you barely want running the PTA. Maybe the bake sale committee. Mayb. Gideon had a huge war chest. $75+ million. A huge amount ($15 million) went unspent…..there was nowhere to spend it. It’s Maine.

Collins won. Again.

I wouldn’t write her epitaph today.

Graham Platner looks like an interesting candidate.

His biggest problem is that the DSCC wants Maine’s Governor, Janet Mills (77 years-old) to run. The DSCC is recruiting her hard.

Then you have Jordan Wood. Native-born (the working class town of Lewiston, half of L-A, Lewiston-Auburn). He’s definitely a Mainer (which Platner and Mills are). He’s been a political activist since college. He was Katie Porter’s Chief of Staff in DC. He’s raised $1.6 million and has $800k on-hand. He’s gay. That’s not a plus in Maine.

visit his web site and see what you think. He raised over a million dollars last week. Chuck Schumer is pushing for another loser like Beasley . I have been contributing to his campaign with small dollars. It's my way of opposing Schumer for clinging to old guard Dem "leaders"

I like his thumbnail. End the genocide in gaza, push back against the oligarchs, universal health care. I'd like to see a primary. Collins's poll numbers are in the toilet in a state that Harris won by seven points so its a winnable seat. Getting behind an untested politician early against a seasoned incumbent can be a risk.

That’s in Portland’s hockey arena (Maine Mariners, East Coast Hockey League, about single A/Double AA level).

It’s the Cross Insurance Arena. Seats 6,000+ for hockey and 9,000+ for concerts. Looks like they had 6,000-7,500 there. The gubernatorial and senate elections are in 2006.

Yes, having 6,000+ giving a previously unknown Senate candidate a standing ovation when he took the stage a year before the election says something does it not ?

I read that he received 6 standing ovations during his speech. I also see he raised a million dollars in donations last week.

Not a bad start for the first week of his campaign. Here's hoping media will take notice...

They will absolutely take notice and either ignore or actively handicap his campaign
