Trump Class Battleship? Negative Ghost Rider

Trump naming a new class of battleships after himself is pretty much on brand. It’s extremely unlikely anything like this ever gets built, and even if the “Golden Fleet” were taken seriously, shipbuilding doesn’t move on press-conference timelines. Design, funding, Congress, and shipyard capacity take years.

This also isn’t how the Navy works. You don’t name something and magically get steel in the water. I was a plank owner on the George Washington CVN-73 in Newport News, VA, so I know a little about how pre-commissioned shipbuilding actually goes. Announcing a “Trump-class” battleship is closer to branding than procurement.

If this were about real legacy, the normal process would’ve been enough. Instead it’s the usual spectacle: big talk, gold trim, no shipyard.

If Trump has any say in the design, and you know he wants to, I imagine this will look something like a Carnival cruise ship covered in gold leaf with a dozen 16 inch guns on it.

I posted this on another thread, but agree with the OP that it's very unlikely this ever gets anywhere close to development. Especially because the tactical utility of this modern "battleship" is basically zero, as every navy in the world learned roughly 85 years ago.

Hope so. The problem is it will take decades to repair the CDC.
Not just the CDC…everything. When Trump was elected 2024 America came to a fork in the road of destiny. No matter the road taken, it can never be same. Maybe there is “[…]something wonderful just around the bend”-Kuralt.
