How can it be an October surprise when this case has literally been going on for two years? It's hard for me to imagine anything in the indictment that would move the needle in the presidential race. Everyone knows what Trump did, and they are either at peace with it or they aren't.

I suppose it could have an effect of amplifying an unflattering message about Trump when he would like to be talking about something else. I don't think this is quite like Comey/HRC because Comey's comments about re-opening the investigation made it seem as though there had previously been a cover-up, and that there was more lurking beneath the surface. I mean, maybe there's something really explosive in there, but I have my doubts. I think this is a tipped-over iceberg; what lays unseen is probably the tip.
Just depends on how damning the additional evidence is and if the public ever sees it.

I saw a tweet that said that she might release stuff before the 10th? And then I lost it.

Because it will be fresh in the minds of voters with the election right around the corner. Harris can campaign on it. Trump will have to respond.

Think low information voters who start paying attention closer to 30 days out. And then being reminded about all of Trump's transgressions. Because once this ball gets rolling, that opens the floodgates to revisit his sexual assault conviction, illegally storing documents, etc. It could well be a tidal wave of negative information at the time that a candidate does not want that at the forefront of his campaign.

I’m worried about the NY Appeals Court issuing a decision that eliminates the $450+ million penalty (or so reduces it) that Trump can declare a “believable” victory……that’s the October surprise I dread…..that and Israel launching a full-fledged invasion of Lebanon.

How damning can it be? He was caught on tape literally asking the Georgia SOS to invent votes for him. I mean, that's pretty much the definition of "a smocking gun." If that didn't dent his support, I really struggle to believe Jack Smith will have something better.

But that was a perfect call. Or was that the one trying to blackmail Zelenskyy?

"If that didn't dent his support..."
That’s why fascists always elicit support based on ignorance.

Any lawyer guesses on the following:

1) Will Judge release significant redacted portions?

And if so.....

2) How long might that take? I read earlier that he turned in his final draft Friday, along with his version of a redacted copy.

It "sounds like " the amount will be substantially reduced Hopefully they will reduce it and the time period for actually paying it will be "sooner rather than later "
