Tesla warns Trump administration it is ‘exposed’ to retaliatory tariffs

Elon Musk’s electric-car maker says levies could make it costlier to produce vehicles in the US

Elon Musk’s electric-car maker Tesla has warned that President Donald Trump’s trade war could make it a target for retaliatory tariffs against the US and increase the cost of making vehicles in America.
In an unsigned letter addressed to US trade representative Jamieson Greer, Tesla said it “supports” fair trade but warned that US exporters were “exposed to disproportionate impacts when other countries respond to US trade actions”.
“For example, past trade actions by the United States have resulted in immediate reactions by the targeted countries, including increased tariffs on EVs imported into those countries,” the Austin, Texas-based company wrote in the letter dated March 11.

...

One person familiar with the process of sending the letter said: “It’s a polite way to say that the bipolar tariff regime is screwing over Tesla.”
The person added: “It is unsigned because nobody at the company wants to be fired for sending it.”
Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Well boo-hoo.

What does Tesla care about the cost of building vehicles in the US? It's not really a car company any more. It's certainly not going to be selling many of them anywhere. It's a regulatory credits, battery and graft company now.

Huh....weird

“In the 2 to 3 years prior to December 2023, I sold 27 pieces for art at an average price of $54,481.48,” Biden said in the filing. “But since then I have only sold 1 piece of art for $36,000.”

Hunter Biden reveals his dire financial situation after selling one piece of art this year and lackluster book buys

Biden has asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit he was pursuing against a former Trump aide as he can no longer afford to proceed with litigation

I can't believe people defended that. I thought that was the absolute most crooked thing about Hunter and Joe until the pardons. At least before, Hunter sat on corporate boards in relative anonymity.

But still far less crooked than Trump Crypto

Yeah. I do think Trump's recent stuff is bad but for different reasons. it just sullies the image of the presidency. who would do that? dude is already a billionaire.

I think Hunter's art scam is bad like Trump's hotel deals were bad the first term. Like when foreign diplomats would only stay at Trump hotels. Just so corrupt. Hunter's stuff is on par with that.

According to Tesla delivery agents, Cybertruck deliveries are on hold. There’s a containment hold as many owners are reporting trims flying off the supposedly ‘bulletproof’ electric truck.

Many Tesla Cybertruck buyers are taking to forums and social media to report that their deliveries are being pushed.

There are 8 Cybertrucks buyers waiting for deliveries who reported the delay on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum and many more on X and Facebook.

Most are being told by Tesla delivery specialists that there’s a “containment hold” on all Cybertruc deliveries.

A containment hold generally occurs when an automaker finds something wrong with newly produced vehicles and wants to hold deliveries to fix the issue so that it can avoid recalling vehicles in customers’ hands.

Chinese automaker BYD has become the first in the world to unveil a commercial battery for electric vehicles that is capable of charging in roughly the same amount of time as it takes to fill up a fuel tank.

BYD’s new Super E-Platform offers 1,000kW charge speeds, which is four times quicker than the 250kW charging rates of Tesla superchargers.

These speeds can offer a range of up to 400km (249 miles) in just five minutes of charging.

During a live stream event at the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China, BYD said mass production of the new technology would “completely solve users’ range anxiety when travelling”.

...

BYD is the best-selling brand in China, accounting for roughly a third of all EV sales in the country. Last year, the company overtook Tesla to become the world’s largest EV manufacturer, despite a relatively modest market share in Europe – and still no presence in the US.
