I do fear that with the SNAP deadline on Friday and with a large labor union calling on Democrats to back down that Democrats will cave to the pressure and vote to reopen the government. And if they do that Republicans will crow and claim victory and Democrats in the future will find that threatening to shut down the government gives them no leverage whatsoever, as Republicans will know that they will eventually cave first. So the one thing they have left that they do have some control over will disappear, and they will truly be an utterly powerless minority in the House and Senate. Which they already are except for their ability to block a budget from being approved.

If the Democrats were smart they'd be hiring trucks and getting banners made and publicly donating to food banks nationwide.

Indeed. Unfortunately they're not very smart politically anymore, at least not their DC leadership. Some of the younger Democrats in Congress and Democratic pols out in the states (like Jeff Jackson here in NC) understand how to sell themselves and their ideas in this new social media age, but the party's Congressional leadership, not so much.

It is a no win situation

you blue sheep should be wishing for the pubs to get their way and watch what happens when affordable healthcare is no longer affordable

You know it is possible for someone to want the best for people and not look at everything through a cynical "winning is everything" lens.
want all you want in one hand and shit in the other .....you can't win with wants. matters not to me but your wants are continually losing

Where’s the money for this?
Dems should in my opinion collectively commit every dollar they have in their campaigns toward it and do fundraising outreach to every donor with the promise that it will all go toward SNAP. Offer the funding to the federal government and if Trump refuses then offer it directly to the states.
