He registered as a foreign agent and acted as one and got paid as one.
Okay. You are right. He was a registered foreign agent.

Our resolve is a totally different argument. If it lasts

There's an optimistic part of me that thinks Trump may stick with it. Not because he gives a fuck one way or the other, but because it would tend to erode/end the impression he is Putin's sock puppet. And at this point, I'm not really certain what leverage Putin could have over him. Even if a piss tape came out today, it would be almost irrelevant concerning Trump's future. You know for an egomaniac that making Putin bend the knee (or ending Putin altogether) would be the ultimate high.
Continuing the optimistic thinking: I believe (and hope) Zelenskyy is setting Trump up to appeal to his vanity as the one to be the hero. Don't know the angle, but I bet Zelenskyy is working on it.

Now to dovetail your thought, it won't take Trump long to realize that making peace is harder then he thought. Just don't think Ukraine is going to roll over on this. Mainly because they can't. Then Trump will get tired and lose interest. Or he might turn on Putin a bit. Yep, its a dream.

Oh and you are right. The relationship has changed. Trump may no longer see himself subservient to Putin. Maybe Zelenskyy can play off that.

Don’t let that get in the way of reflexive whitewashing.

Zelensky has already lost some gop congressional support and he knows that will only get worse as the new g'ment takes over and trump doesn't have the appetite for this long term.
Oh, you think he lost congressional support? Did you infer that from the GOP's refusal to send any aid to Ukraine until it was paired legislatively with aid to Israel and even then it was held up for like half a year.

The GOP is the primary cause -- other than the invasion itself, of course -- of Ukraine's current predicament.

And before that, he was a foreign agent who hadn't registered, and was charged with a crime. The registration came later and was retroactive. I'm not sure why that "oops, I forgot to register" defense is out there, but that's my recollection of what happened.

It was during her representation of Flynn on the registration charges that Sidney Powell became radicalized.

I would argue it was because of a weak and mentally challenged biden that emboldened putin to act after trump left office.
