Looking forward to this thread. A couple of buddies of mine know Coach Forbes and rave about him as a person and coach, especially his work with pitchers. I remember all the calls to fire him when Heels were a .500 team his first year and wondering myself if it was going to work out. Love reading about our arms this year.

I was a Diamond Heel and I have my name on the Bosh wall.

I was promised permanent seats with my name on those seats to make those seats "mine". I had season tickets for two years but no name on my seats. When I inquired I was told that they had decided not to put the names on the seats. It was not that big a deal to me other than it was a broken promise by the baseball leadership.

So I will attend some of the games this year, but I no longer am a Diamond Heel.

Smith Center- same was promised and didn’t happen. Place for the plate on the seat arm but never installed.

We've got so many incredible sports programs on campus of which we can be proud, but Carolina Baseball may top the entire list. The coaches and players are just phenomenal men and wonderful representatives of all that makes the University of North Carolina special. And I've always been amazed at how the program has maintained such elite performance year over year for two decades now despite having comparatively significantly less institutional support and resources than all of the other top programs in the sport.

Was that why you became a Diamond Heel? to get your name on seats? If not, not sure why that would be a deal breaker. Glad they didn’t do that imo

Tough crowd. Always amazed at how we turn on each other given even a small window.

I live in Chapel Hill and get tired of the NIMBYism. Stuff like that bothers me, the entitlement, especially when we’re talking about a top 3 sport on campus.

But i don’t think I “turned on him”. Seems a little weird to me to stop supporting a sport bc they didn’t put their names on the seats

eta Obviously seems like their could have been some better communication and i hadn’t had enough coffee yet so i may have had a more aggressive tone than i should have

As I mentioned in my post, it was no big deal. I would have contributed to the Bosh with or without names on the seats. It was the broken promise that irked me.

The good news is that my no longer being a Diamond Heel has had and will have zero impact on the baseball program :)

I did not know that.

I confess that the broken promise to me for my Bosh contribution coincided with with a certain medical center confiscating around $5000 from my private practice account because the department needed it to help with its budget.

Like I said in my post above and below, it's no big deal. I'm hoping for a great baseball season !

When you said you were a diamond Heel I thought you meant you had played baseball at UNC - that is a bummer about them not doing the name on seat thing

I'm super excited for this coming baseball season. I've been hooked on Carolina baseball ever since Chad Flack sent the Tar Heels to Omaha, but over the last several years it has become my favorite program on campus and my favorite sport season. Went to Omaha two years ago for the first time when the Heels were there and I'm addicted- want to go back ASAP!

Seems this decade the majority of the other sports have been more successful than football and men's basketball overall.

That's all some intolerant posters know how to do and post little immature clown emojis as replies when someone says something they don't agree with. This board is no different than the other boards when it comes to juvenile responses.
