I think that hire is a tremendous risk and don't understand it.

THIS is the hire (not Donovan) you can compare to the Belichick football hire. I don't see Malone as that level of bad hire, but I do see this as a strategic mistake

Malone apparently has a lot of good relations with former Tar Heels due to the history of Tar Heel head coaches of the denver Nuggets (Larry Brown, Donnie Walsh, Doug Moe and George Karl all had stints as the head coach of the Nuggets).

weird. i would've liked one of the mccollum / byington / mccasland group.

but malone certainly can coach basketball. he has an NBA championship ring. it could work.

This University's leadership and its athletics department is so fucking broken, man. We can't ever just make a normal hire. North Carolina basketball doesn't have to take this kind of risk and yet....
