I am anxious for the Chancellor to get away from Football matters . He needs to focus on what he was hired to do End any and all Affirmative action , DEI , wokeness. And build up the White Privilege College

UNC, where the men are men and the women are champions
A lot of truth to this. A couple years ago, I expressed concern on IC that our men's sports programs were in decline and that the women were largely having to carry our athletic program. Some posters didn't like that but it's proven mostly prescient. Other than baseball having a nice bounce back season last year, the other men's sports that I care strongly about (football, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, tennis) have been on the struggle bus for at least a couple years now. It's going to be difficult to right those ships too until we're able to exit the ACC.

Of course, your statement is also true historically for UNC athletics, which is what I think you were really getting at. Lots of women's soccer and field hockey natties.

Do you know that the UNC Women’s athletic teams have won the bulk of collegiate championships won by UNC for DECADES?

Coach Smith corrected the media when they called UNC a basketball school and Coach Smith said we’re a women’s soccer school.

It’s #23. 1981 won the AIAW title……beating UConn in the semis and UCF in the finals.
True for total UNc national titles in women’s soccer but the graphic is specific to the college Cup (and the other titles total would be changed if we include AIAW).

No matter how you slice it, crazy dominant, yet also spectacular to win one now, after the GOAT coach retired to start the season and the rest of elite college women’s soccer had long since caught up to UNC.

Yep. It was an especially popular sentiment (like on a T-shirt popular) in ‘94 when the women’s hoops team had just won a national title.
