You’re the only guy talking about Ingram. Why, I’m not sure. Tyson is a completely different player and that should be obvious. Water is wet.

If Tyson’s shooting is going to keep him on the floor, then he’ll need to show the kind of toughness that Manek did in a similar role. Otherwise a lineup with him in it will suffer on the boards and defensively.
OK, forget Ingram (who I brought up because the way you were saying you wanted Tyson to play sounded like how Ingram played). I am telling you that Tyson almost certainly will not be as tough or physical as Manek was in that role, because he is not as tough or physical a player as Manek was. Manek was like 25-30 pounds heavier and a natural 4; Tyson is a natural 3 who we're probably going to have to play a lot at the 4 due to roster makeup. You're setting yourself up for disappointment if what you want to see is Tyson be as "tough" as Manek.

If Trimble comes anywhere close to doing what he did on offense, I expect Tyson to come off the bench as a designated shooter and Powell to claim the 4. If we're going undersized, Powell is a lot more athletic and a better defender. Davis, Cadeau, Trimble, Powell and Washington is scary small but scary fast. We're going to probably have 15+ minutes for 7-8 players.

Random thoughts

* we still need a more effective inbounds play against pressure — had some Baylor flashbacks
THIS!! It continues to frustrate [infuriate?] me that our go-to inbounds play against pressure is to toss it to the guy in the coffin corner who immediately gets double teamed.

I cannot tell you how many times in the last 2+ seasons, one or more of us in my in-game text threads mentions this issue.

I simply do not understand why we do it.

My only concern about Powell playing a lot of 4 is that I think it will take away a good part of his defensive value to put him on a bigger forward. If we do that teams with bigger/heavier 4s are just going to post him up and exploit his lack of strength, which will make it harder for him to use his quickness and athleticism on the perimeter.

That would be a diet, caffeine free version of the 94-95 team with the McInnis, Dante, D. Williams, Stackhouse, Ra line up.

Just a note The next exhibition is against a very outmanned crew The results and individual accomplishments will truly be pretty MEH

Go Heels. Rewatched the game this evening. I'm so glad that it is basketball season.

Is this the spot for a game thread tomorrow?
Somebody post updates on score.
What JC Smith play like?

This is the place

I do t know anything about JCS — a D2 program and their longtime head coach retired after last season. Thus ends the info I have.

What do we think about Hubert coming out and “sounding the alarm” that UNC isn’t doing enough on the NIL front to keep up with the other heavy hitters?

I don’t love what NIL has done to college sports (just how it’s been implemented; I don’t have a problem with players getting paid), but it’s not something you can ignore if you want your teams to be the best they can be. Feels like it’s been this elephant in the room that none of our fans have wanted to accept or talk about because we have what looks like a really good team for this season. The reality though is that we have been missing on a lot of our recruits and transfer portal targets, and if that continues, we will almost certainly start falling behind the other big brands as a program in the next few years.
