Unsafe for foreigners (or well anyone) to travel to US catchall thread

Pete Belton, 44, from Ilkeston says he was shocked to find his forearm featured in a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document used to help identify alleged members of Tren de Aragua (TdA), a transnational criminal organisation.

"I'm just an average middle-aged man from Derbyshire," he told BBC Verify.

Mr Belton said it was a "bit strange, bit funny at first" but is now worried the family trip he booked to Miami with his wife and daughter in August might end up "being a six month all-inclusive holiday to Guantanamo".

“…They said the measures replicate those used on trips to Ukraine and China, where standard IT kit cannot be brought into the countries for fear of Russian or Chinese surveillance.

“They are worried about the US getting into the commission systems,” said one official…”

Also being a Jordan fan could get you sent to El Salvador.

The US government hasn't deported anyone based on their tattoos alone, according to comments from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official in a court filing last month.

However, court documents show immigration officials are employing a points-based system known as the "Alien Enemy Validation Guide" to determine if someone is linked to the Venezuelan gang.

It includes a scorecard, and according to the document, eight points across a number of categories could be grounds for arrest or deportation.

Half of these points can be given if a "subject has tattoos denoting membership or loyalty to TdA".

The document says if all eight points come from the symbolism category, which includes tattoos, then further consultation should be taken before designating someone as a member of TdA.

A colleague is in the process of moving to Canada. His wife is Canadian/Ecuadorian. They had a meticulous 4-5 month spring/summer plan, involving selling down their personal effects, posting their house, visiting their chosen landing spot a few times, taking 1-2 uhaul loads, visiting elementary schools (two young kids), etc.

They scrapped it all, and are now selling their home furnished, as is, at aggressive pricing. They haven’t visited their chosen landing place. They haven’t secured jobs. They’re planning to move with whatever they can fit into checked baggage. Instead of leaving in September, they’re now leaving in May.

The spouse is brown. The kids are brown. One is an ICU provider and the other a research lab manager. They’ve gone from moving with a plan to borderline flee mode, in about a month’s time.

This isn’t an isolated circumstance, and I expect it will accelerate, rapidly, over the summer. It’s not likely we see the type of mass murdering of a Cultural Revolution, but I expect tens of thousands of extrajudicial disappearances, and the subsequent brain drain will entrench the US as Russia 2.0.

I posted this before. Not sure if it was here or another board. Have a friend who is a US Citizen living abroad. A couple weeks back she was coming back to the US. Got detained for 6-8 hours at the airport for questioning. Was never given a reason. This is an American born citizen travelling back into the US with a US passport. Scary times.

Fuck off.

Hernandez Romero's tattoos were also visible in the photos taken of him by Holsinger. Those tattoos — crowns — were the only evidence U.S. immigration officials presented in court to accuse him of being part of the Tren de Aragua gang.
