No worries…didn’t take it that way…just know that if you are ever in the middle of nowhere, you may have options.

    Politics CURRENT EVENTS

A significant part my job requires traveling to manufacturing/processing facilities in very remote/rural areas. It can be difficult to find a decent meal, but there is usually a CB and a Hampton Inn on many a rural exit throughout the SE US, where I do most of my traveling. The food isn’t gonna...

    Off-Topic West Coast tsunami watch.

I’m sure she meant a mile inland and there was no script to work from…but come on.

    Off-Topic West Coast tsunami watch.

Watching the same channel…woman meteorologist just advised people on Maui to head towards Haleakala…that they would probably be safe if they could get a mile above sea level. Absolutely ridiculous. She’s also been absolutely butchering the names of Hawaiian cities and towns…I mean I understand...

    Off-Topic Turning Twelve

Thanks for that! Some of my fondest childhood memories are Sundays spent going to a little country Presbyterian Church. My GF was one of the founders and was Elder Emeritus, so there was no skipping church! After church was dinner (as we called the noon meal) at my grandparents, play with...

    Off-Topic "Brother" slang?

I’ll use brother occasionally…usually used with a relative or close friend. Kind of related to the OP I guess…but I do take offense when someone addresses me as captain, chief, or ‘my guy’. All seem dismissive to me.

    Politics GPS Speed Limiter Law

I am generally in agreement with you…not personally knowing a ton of folks in the fire service, I suppose I assumed that my friend’s position might be widely shared in your community. Great to hear your perspective and a good reminder for me that my circle of friends are not the last word on an...

    Politics GPS Speed Limiter Law

I think I’d be ok with it as along as there was a reasonable buffer and one wouldn’t be strictly limited to the posted speed…like the ability to go 80 in a 70 mph zone for instance. This would at least eliminate all the guys racing and/or going 100+ mph. I think you’d have to have some buffer...

    Politics GPS Speed Limiter Law

This is interesting. I know a guy…former fireman…who is heavily involved in NFPA codes dealing with firefighting. He is part of an effort/group that is actually pushing to reduce/eliminate fire department involvement for medical calls, etc. said it stretches departments too thin and is very costly.

That’s fair…some but we may not know the true toll for a generation or more I suppose.

Politics Veritasium: How one company poisoned the planet

I watched that about two weeks ago and thought it was very good…and by very good, I mean it really pissed me off. With that said, I work in an industry which supports the use of one of the many applications for these chemicals. Without getting into any detail, the benefits of its use far...

I send samples to Clemson for testing…really easy to do and pretty cheap (less than $10). Results come back in a week or two. Results are very specific, telling you how much lime, fertilizer, or other supplements to add and when to add them. Link below should tell you everything you need to...

What kind of grass do you have? Whatever you have…and I know this goes against everything you stand for…search for the NC State ‘type of grass here’ calendar. If that hurts too much, Clemson also has them…and so does UGA…all free online. I use the Clemson one for my Bermuda and it has not failed...
