Raleigh office of the National Weather Service cut back the freezing rain totals for the Triangle. Seems they are thinking the heavier precip will be to the north and that we'll see snow and sleet to start. I watched Greg Fishel's latest video on Facebook and it seemed he thinks the freezing rain will be worse south of the Triangle.

I'm thinking this thing will be a minor inconvenience from Raleigh to the south. Storm is taking its time which will allow warm air to work in. Looks like most of what falls in the eastern half of the state will be plain rain. Will be rougher around the Triad though.

Wife: “Did you go to the store yet?”
Me: “Yes”
Wife: “Did you the things we need?”
Me: “Yes, Gin, Scotch and Brandy”
Wife: “No! Dumbass! Bread, milk, eggs… you know… the things we need! You’d better go back to the store!”
Me: “You’re right. I forgot the Vodka”
I went to Costco yesterday, not even thinking about the weather, I go each week and get gas at the same time.

The line to turn in the primary entrance was all the way to the highway, over 1/4 mile. I just passed them all to go to the back entrance which no one seems to know about.

Of course there was absolutely no bottled water, no bread, almost no milk and eggs. Thankfully I didn't need any of those things.

But I did get some Salmon, brussels sprouts, and limes for my Gin and tonic.

Come to think... I have some really nice whisky if things get bad.

I poured out my wife's vodka, I hope she doesn't want any. :)

Ultimate Raleigh would be some mild flakes, a teeny bit of sleet, then cries from Wake county schools regarding freeze/thaw/freeze road hazards despite bone dry roads which closes school Tuesday/Wednesday

It could happen, but I'll believe when it I see it. There seems to be a very large number of interwebs amateur weather forecasters out there who are gleefully predicting that a freezing rain apocalypse is about to descend upon us. Maybe it will, but I have doubts. Certainly if the freezing rains gets over a half-inch it could get pretty bad, and professional meteorologists have been saying that will happen in some areas of NC, but to read some of these people's posts on the internet it sounds like we'll be without power for a month and civilization itself may collapse.

Here south of Charlotte, this storm isn’t going to bring the snow we had hoped…maybe next weekend…we will see. However, looking at the cold temps the next few weeks, it’s nice to get a proper winter for a change.

Can anyone explain what models the Apple weather app uses that it continues to forecast a foot of snow for central NC? It is so far out of alignment with the models and every other forecaster that I'm struggling to understand what it's basing this on. I have colleagues convinced we're getting a big snow because of it and I don't blame them, I blame the app. Where are their predictions coming from?
I don’t know. That model hung on to ridiculous forecasts until mid day today. Apple really needs to make a change. It is embarrassing.

Come on up here to New England! We're getting 15+ inches of nothing but snow later this weekend. And temperatures in the single digits every night for the next week. What fun. Y'all don't know what you're missin'

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM SUNDAY TO 8 PM EST
MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12
and 17 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.

* WHERE...Much of Southern New England excluding Martha's Vineyard,
Nantucket and Block Island.
There isn’t a person here who wouldn’t trade for that.

AI slop. Like pretty much everything else AI generated. The rush to implement tech that is so woefully not ready for prime time kind of baffles me.
