Agreed, but one thing I think many people, including some liberals, still don't get is that our news media has taken a hard shift to the right in the last few years, even since Trump's first term. Trump and others are able to frame the narrative because there are more and more right-wing friendly, pro-Trump news and social networks willing to allow him to frame the story the way he wants, or the GOP to frame it the way they want. Either Democrats learn new ways to get their message out or this is going to happen all the time moving forward - they can't count on even the "legacy mainstream media" to report things fairly anymore.
 
I have a feeling the story of this tragedy has not yet begun to be written. I don’t think this was a false flag op. I do think this is probably related to the chaotic and seat-of-the-pants Afghan asylum program, and especially to the concern of Afghan asylees that their status is about to be revoked.

The most important part of the story IMO is that when Trump negotiated the Afghanistan withdrawal in 2019 and 2020, he had no intention of bringing ANY of the Afghans who supported our efforts there back to the US. He intended to abandon them all to the Taliban. The Biden administration made a bunch of mistakes, but they did so while trying to make the best of Trump’s sabotage of the entire process.

I’m getting pissed reading about all the Pubs who wanted the Afghans to receive asylum. Maybe they did, but they also supported the man who wanted to leave our Afghan allies to be tortured and killed by the Taliban. And that same man is the one who caused West Virginia National Guardsmen to be serving pointless time in our nation’s capital the day before Thanksgiving.

Some of us lived this nightmare with the Afghans who counted on us to protect them, only to be stabbed in the back by Trump 1.0 and told they’d be stabbed again by Trump 2.0. So fuck anyone who wants to blame this on Biden or “jihadism” or whatever. This is all about Trump’s disastrous foreign policy vis-à-vis Afghanistan. That’s the background that resulted in the tragic death of these Americans.
