The articles I’ve read about Brunswick County’s recently arrived retirees is that they’re anti-tax Trumplicans. The county last had a Democrat win a majority in 1980. It’s 60% plus Trump.

Horry County, SC, voted 68% for Trump. Seven of its ten SC House seats are GOP; three of its five SC Senate seats are as well.

That area is increasingly anti-government white retirees.

Mamdani surges in new poll, leading Cuomo for first time in New York mayor’s race

The former governor has topped every voter survey since entering the race, but the democratic socialist is gaining on him.

“… The survey, conducted by Public Policy Polling for Democrat Justin Brannan’s city comptroller campaign, found Mamdani beating Cuomo 35 percent to 31 percent — a difference that is narrowly within the 4.1 percent margin of error.

[Other polling shows Cuomo with a lead of 2-12 points head to head, but more than two candidates are running]

… What was once a long-shot candidacy by the 33-year-old candidate has evolved into a competitive effort to lead the nation’s largest city.

Cuomo has sharpened his attacks against Mamdani in recent days by questioning his thin resume and ability to lead a complex city government. The two will face off in another debate Thursday night.…”

Is it time to give Paperboy Love Prince a shot?

The Trump approval ratings feom
Hispanics should make us all cringe. The Democrats have to find a way into that population. The message they are using now is the opposite of good. They continue to lose the demographic that is growing the most.

Oh, it gets far more tRiGgERinG!!!! than that. Mamdani’s is/was:

- born in Uganda
- Shia Muslim
- a Democratic Socialist
- a hip hop fan, and even released a single himself!
- is married to a Syrian

At least per wiki.
It sounds like ICE will be deporting him soon.

But the ranked choice ballot structure really makes it tough to know how it will shake out.

The fact that Cuomo called on Bill Clinton to endorse him late in the process is telling that he felt threatened — that is probably not a political chip he wanted to use in the primary.

The meltdown from this will be pretty epic. The Democrats will try to spin a socialist winning that’s endorsed by Bernie. Fox will lead with this every night.

Cuomo was on the ticket. That’s the unknown. Were folks just not really wanting that again?

It isn't hard to understand Mamdani's appeal, especially when compared to Cuomo. Being seen as a status quo, establishment candidate is toxic in both parties right now, and Cuomo is nothing if not a retread and symbol of status quo Establishment Democrats. Mamdani is young, attractive, a fresh face, and whatever else he definitely is seen as the outsider with new ideas, socialist or not. It shouldn't be surprising that he's doing this well, even if he loses in the end in the primary or the general.

In the age of Trump, folks can overcome anything. Refusing to say Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish state is wild but Trump has said crazier.
