*Obligatory “take this with a huge grain of salt, it’s a long way until next November, this seems like hopium and wishcasting etc. etc. etc.* but this is at least *a* promising data point for now.

Interesting and encouraging, but I agree with your caveat at the bottom. Further, while I don't fully understand the numbers and this might be taken into account, I am ASSUMING that the "generic ballot" means that it does not account for Gerrymandered US House of Representatives Districts. I live in a Blue area of Mecklenburg County. Jeff Jackson was my representative in the US House when the districts were un-Gerrymandered for one election - 2022. However, now I am back in a Gerrymandered district where I and people like me are outvoted by folks from Union and Gaston Counties. Primarily, these folks work in Mecklenburg County, but moved to Union and Gaston Counties to free themselves from the oppressive liberal overlords who actually created the jobs that employ them.

“This isn't as alluring as the Epstein story, but in every NC county today, a new Board of Elections is being sworn in. Pictured here is the newly-sworn board in Buncombe County (which doesn't look representative of our population). The wise old man on the left is Jake Quinn. Up until today, he was the chair of the board. Under his leadership, Buncombe won national acclaim for their ability to run a smooth election in the days following Hurricane Helene. But because we have a Republican led General Assembly, drunk on power, they stripped Jake and all NC counties of their previous democratic leadership who were chairing election boards. They did this to further put their thumb on the scale of democracy to unfairly favor themselves.

Voters didn't vote for this. But we will surely bear the burden of longer lines at polling places, fewer places to vote, and more citizens being turned away from their right to vote. We have to demand more integrity from State legislators.“

I have known two folks in Orange County that served for years in Election leadership They were both serious community leaders The one in my neighborhood gave equal amounts of crap to Dems and Pubs if they skirted any rules at all. There was just not any "cheating" going on. Lord knows what kind of Yahoos will be put in charge and what their overlords will instruct them to do

Of one thing I am certain, if any Democrat in the future finds themselves in the position that NC Supreme Court Justice Riggs did in last year's election - they are leading by a tiny percentage of the vote and their Republican opponent won't concede and keeps contesting the vote - then that Democrat will lose any future elections of that nature. The NC GOP will simply throw out enough votes for the Republican to win, and the state courts will confirm it. Virtually any close election will now go to Republicans almost by default.

Moral of the story - don't make the election close. Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote (at least while we still have a vote).
