Given how heavily gerrymandered that district is and Trump's margin of victory there last year, improving the Democratic performance by 13 points is still pretty damned good and a clear sign of public dissatisfaction with Trump 2.0. If that margin carried over nationally next year then Democrats would easily retake the House, even with all the GOP gerrymandering shenanigans in NC and Texas and some other states.

Side note — midterm redistricting has probably created more red districts at or below a +15 threshold than existed in the last several House wave elections. Redistricting to maximize partisan advantage may be making wild swing elections even more common in the House.

Ram!!!! Hey buddy! How you been doing? We’ve missed you on the threads about the double tap war crimes, Trump pardoning drug kingpins, Trump sleeping through cabinet meetings, Trump’s approval ratings hitting historic lows, etc. Nothing to say on those topics?
Doing great. Thanks for asking. No need to comment on recent topics. Too busy enjoying this latest feeding frenzy from this board/media/Dems regarding "Trump is a war criminal" after the "Trump is a pedo/Epstein" and "Trump is unwell" narratives fizzled before our eyes. This one ends today after Admiral Bradley provides his testimony to Congress.

Great! Glad to hear it. I'm really hoping most hardcore MAGAs keep living in that state of delusion. That will keep the Senate in play next fall.

Must be a lot of piss and vinegar on that limestone wall between the Epstein and Trump is unwell issues and their revelation for there to be any kind of fizzle.

No delusion. I said days after the 2024 election that Dems will take the House in 2026 - it's a pretty easy prediction given history. Still have over a year to enjoy where Rs fully in charge but nothing's permanent in politics.

The House, sure, but it would have taken a political clusterfuck of unprecedented proportions for the Pubs to be at risk of losing the Senate in a year where the map overwhelmingly favors them. And yet, here we are.

Given that Trump completely ignores Congress to do whatever he wants, I am not sure why it matters who has control of the House.

I'm sorry, how did those "narratives" "fizzle"?

And what do you think Bradley can possibly say to make this go away? I mean, maybe Trump had nothing to do with it, so technically speaking Trump isn't the war criminal. But if Hegseth's orders were to "leave no survivors" -- and they aren't disputing it -- then HE is a war criminal, and since Trump is standing by him, the best you will be able to say is that he's war criminal adjacent.

Meanwhile, Trump sleeps through his cabinet meeting where his asskissers drone on and on about how amazing he is, and we wakes up to say "affordability" is a Democrat hoax. Sure, sure.

Good, and I hope they continue that strategy, because MAGA has shown that while they'll crawl over glass to vote for Dear Leader, they're not nearly as willing to turn out to vote for his minions in lesser races in off-year and midterm elections. Just let them keep pissing off everyone else and the Democrat's chances in next year's elections will only continue to improve. Unless they rig the elections, of course, which they're desperately trying to do.

It will be interesting to see if Congressional filing deadlines will give GQPers permission to stop polishing Trump's knob and become responsible members of the Senate and House.

Maybe, but I'll believe the GOP is finally turning on Trump when I see it actually happen in large numbers. We've been hearing this for nearly a decade now, and it has yet to happen in more than a few isolated cases, like Lynne Cheney. Chuck Schumer is still waiting for it to happen after talking about it for years.

now if all of these cohorts will turn out in large numbers for the midterms... but I'm not holding my breath

As I told you, the Supreme Court wasn't going to let the injunction stand. So, does California again have your permission to stick with its redistricting plan?
I don't control what CA does. I think most people agree that gerrymandering to balance out other state's gerrymandering is understandable, but if we agree that gerrymandering is wrong, then we should agree that CA shouldn't do it unless it's to balance out other states right?

Which is exactly what happened. The laws don't need to be conditional. In fact, had Texas' maps been invalidated, then it might send a signal to other states that expedient gerrymandering is dangerous and maybe they shouldn't do it.

Truth is, it all came from Trump. Texas had no interest in redistricting until that freak Dhillon at DOJ got involved.
