I’ve long argued Dems were on the wrong side of of voter ID laws. Not that voter fraud is a serious concern, but it’s better to neutralize the issue and support voter ID requirements and make a free, easily attainable national ID the compromise solution.
Right.

Support easily obtainable, FREE voter ID. And, same day registration. And, vote by mail. And, increasing the number of voting locations and voting booths. More early voting locations and ballot drop off sites. More early voting days and hours. Early voting on Sundays.

The Adirondack Upstate area is full boat Trumplican.

They (GOP, MAGA, Project 2025, Big Ballz) don’t want to go weeks/months with one fewer GOP House member.

The GOP/MAGAts are not losing that seat. Drive the area. You’ll see more Trump signs than Confederate flags; but, you’ll see enough Confederate flags to think you’re in Klan Kountry.
This is true of that area as well as around the Finger Lakes (as I know you know). You will see confederate flags and more Trump signs than I’ve seen anywhere in NC.

Getting close was the realistic goa in a +30 district — create the feeling of the red tide going out. Not sure it’ll that was worth the money — probably entirely depends on the Wisconsin race. If GOP wins that, the story shifts to the GOP winning despite first few months of Trump. Dems win and the focus is on (1) is Musk toxic and (2) +20 blue shift in Florida specials.
I know. But we didn't get all that close. It's about a 15 shift and that strikes me as typical for special elections where the losing party is mad as hell and pissed off. Plus, voter propensity means that we will always (now!) out perform in lower turnout elections. To me the result in FL doesn't indicate any significant shift in the national mood, but it's early yet. I think we're seeing a lot of cracks in the facade.
