...not that anyone asked, but nbc is doing too much. I'm absolutely shocked they aren't making nba weekend streaming only.

Me too, really didn't even know it was All Star weekend until I saw this updated thread title.

And still don't care to watch any of it. All-star game 4th quarters used to be enjoyable, but has been years since I could stomach watching the game

Yeah, the only thing I find entertaining now is the 3-point contest.
 
Everybody has badmouthed the dunk contest for so long that the high profile players see it as more of a potential stain than a chance to stand out or redeem the event. Hard to blame them, we’ve seen nearly everything there is to do except for sillier and sillier stunts and theatrics. Sometimes those land, but rarely inspire.

This from the days when it was an honor and privilege to participate, and an unspoiled audience had never seen anything like it. The best unknown (to many) dunker in NBA history 🗽

 
CP3 announced his retirement. I know his behavior at Wake, but I always liked him as an NBA player. Great, great talent and competitor who through circumstance and occasional unclutch play never quite got a title.

Definitely an all-time great and among the top players to come out of NC, which has put out a number of all-time greats.
 
This round Robin shit is stupid. The All-Star game was something I always looked forward to as a kid. Now it is just a hot mess. They keep finding ways to make it worse.
 
Most all-star games suck now. Exhibition games just don't do it for m anymore.

I think MLB probably has the best team one, due to some of the batter/pitcher matchups, but still not really must see.

When I was a kid I did like seeing all the different helmets in the Pro Bowl.

Couldn’t disagree more. They’re finally onto something with these short round-robin games that don’t turn into 188-163 snooze fests that nobody stays tuned into.

What on earth are you guys expecting? Plenty of effort and close games so far. Given the limitations of this type of event, this is as good as it gets; and you may be comparing against something based mostly on nostalgia that never really existed and has been romanticized over the decades.

I will say the few minutes I just watched did look like real basketball.
