How did you do the spoiler button???

I agree .

We also have a FF, a sweet 16, and a regular season ACC championship with CHD, but Scheyer took over a stronger program than CHD did.
Let's face it. dook** has a better brand with the DSPN promotion, the millions upon millions of NIL to attract the very top talent, and the legacy of litre k marketing dook** as the pathway to being at dook** for a semester and then nailing an NBA lottery pick at the end of the season.

I would be interested to get the opinion of our dook** fan's feedback on what it's like to see a new team shipped in each year. I'm an old UNC codger who enjoyed seeing the players over their 3-4 yr career... how they developed and improved and became a part of the Carolina family. Do dook** fans have that fond affinity for your semester hood one and done players ?
I dont think any person over the age of say, 35, for any school would prefer the one and done/transfer hellscape/NIL chaos that we have now and have had for 20 years to watching players grow up. Duke, UNC, any school.

Until we played you guys I couldnt name a single player on your roster. Maybe Trimble. Couldnt ID him in a lineup though. But I still could point out Montross, Okulaja (RIP), JR Reid, etc. I miss seeing players grow and be college players by FAR. I hated it enough when Boozer and Jason Williams graduated in 3 years.

It's killed college sports. My son watches and gets excited (12 y.o.) but the passion? Yeah that's not there and I dont see it there with almost any kid his age. The bond with players is just too fleeting. There's a reason Caleb Foster is my favorite player on this year's team.

I mean the 2015 roster had 3 one and done players...and it was fun to win it all. But none of them go down for me as "OMG remember so and so" - Quinn Cook, however, he does, cause we got to know him and watch him grow. The only one and done player I still retain some longer-lasting affinity for was Zion and it's cause he was just such a freak of nature talent. The rest? Meh. Give me the 80s and 90s please.

Back in the day, there was a long thread on the Maryland boards of people photoshopping Scheyerfaces. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on the internet. The best, imo, was his face photoshopped into Guernica.
The best one was the guy making a Scheyerface while standing next to Scheyer.

I've asked ChatGPT to locate the images in a "deep archaeological search." If it can find those images, AI will be worth it for sure
Legendary thread.

I hear ya, for sure. It was definitely tacky, don't get me wrong. I just think he was frustrated, it was the heat of the moment, and he was wrong in kind of shooting from the hip in relaying secondhand info without further investigation or verification. I think what probably happened is one of the Duke managers was disheveled in the locker room postgame and said something about being hit in the face, and Scheyer went with it. Not his finest moment, I agree.

I don't know him well and he likely wouldn't know me from Adam but we were in a class together through the Fuqua School of Business at Duke in 2018-2019, so he was on staff at Duke but obv not yet head coach, and he was just as kind, friendly, and humble as he could be. Kind of made me feel slightly bad about some of the things I yelled at him from the risers in college!
IMHO, what his reaction to the postgame court stormings after the Wake game and our game revealed to me is that (a) he has thin skin at certain points and (b) he won't later back down even when he's shown full of shit.

That's a tough combination for him as there are going to be things that happens that frustrate him and that his first reaction won't be a good one.

My hunch is that unless he wins the natty within the next few years, the pressure at dook will start to get to him and we'll see more incidences like the Wake/unc games. And if he wins one at dook, that's going to be terrible.

Either way, I think a lot of Carolina fans will come to dislike him.

Ok the Wake one had video evidence and a player did get hurt.

Would you want Hubert just to say nothing in a similar situation?
