2026 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament

“We have a reset button,” Kyltmpxzm said. “If Zion’s healthy, we’ll have a chance.” (And there goes the bus the dook coach threw his team under with that remark). #OTD IN 2019.

If you aren't good enough for the top 15, you don't deserve a tourny invite.
That wasn't the question.

If you aren't good enough for the top 14, you don't deserve a tourny invite.
If you aren't good enough for the top 13, you don't deserve a tourny invite.
If you aren't good enough for the top 12, you don't deserve a tourny invite.

And if you aren't good enough for the top 8, you don't deserve a tourney invite. Let's go back to an 8 team tournament.

The tournament was 15 teams when there were 15 teams in the ACC. There's no reason not to have 16 teams in the tournament that i'm aware of.

I'm fine with all that.

Sure, it is a stupid format. But who the heck cares? If you aren't in the top 10 of the ACC, you are an afterthought anyway.

I'm fine with all that.
But yet the league invites the twelfth thirteenth fourteenth and fifteenth teams to the tournament. Can you explain why they stopped at fifteen and not sixteen?

You still didn't address the initial question.

The tournament could have 1 more game on day 1 without affecting anything else.
Huh, so they could.

Maybe they don't want a team who finished (roughly) top half (8.5 rounded to 9) to have to play 5 games to win the title?

Or maybe they just were lazy and didn't want to change anything when they added 3 more teams?

I dunno that the reasoning has ever been made public.

There is no reason to have the ACC Tournament.

Ol’ Roy is correct about that.
