I prefer that an American wins a major just as I prefer that America wins the Ryder Cup.

It's the golfing jingoist in me and so I will be rooting for Young today who will be paired with the 2nd biggest asshole and Burns who will be paired with a foreigner.

I would rather watch the Euros win every Ryder Cup for the rest of my life than watch Patrick Reed win another green jacket.

Saying McIlroy is the second biggest asshole golfer is certainly a take.

I’ve been fooled by heelinhell’s sarcasm before but this one feels real. In reality, Rory is far closer to the nicest than he is to the Reeds of the tour.

Looks like mostly traditional Sunday pin locations this year. 5 and 6 are diabolical placements.

Kinda wish they would haven shaken these up just a touch. I liked it when they put 16 at a different spot last year instead of the usual front left funnel.
 
Anybody have a feel for who's going to take it today?

Cam Young playing the best.

Rory most capable of going really low.

Sheffler the best player in the world lurking.

Burns the best putter.

Rosy best storyline.

Day another great story.

Lowry always a good time.

Yeah, it's real. I don't consider Rory an asshole, but I do think he is a jerk. As far as Patrick Reed goes, I'm not a fan but I enjoyed him inspiring the Americans in the Ryder cup. When I said I would love Reed to win a 2nd green jacket it was only because at that point he was the closest American to the lead and it was a friendly poke at peppers for wanting Rory to win back to back Masters.

Things have changed going into today's final round.

I will be rooting for Young and Burns and hoping Ben Griffin shoots a 62 to wear the green jacket:)

What has Rory done that makes him seem like a jerk to you?
 
I’d be fine with any of the realistic outcomes.

Scottie coming all the way back to win after being 12 strokes back going into the weekend would be extremely impressive.

Cam Young is maybe the hottest player in the sport. Him winning a major feels inevitable. This tournament is as good of a place as any to do it.

Rory going back to back and holding on after blowing the 6 stroke lead yesterday would be a cool story.

Lowry or Burns would probably be the most underwhelming winners, and even then both of those guys are still high quality players/worthy champs.

I’m really hoping it’s Rose. It feels wrong that he doesn’t have at least one Masters. Would feel similar about Jason Day. Those are the two guys I’m rooting for. StI

I think views on Rory are definitely mixed. He's handsome and charismatic and a really good golfer so things like telling the gallery to stfu, being a jerk to other players, throwing clubs, being caustic with the press after a loss get characterized as an intense competitor by some or as a jackalope by others.

And to be honest he's not the only one. Even before the DUI stuff, Tiger could drop f bombs and be pretty standoffish (at least with the press, but I've heard more than a couple fans that have had interactions with him and say he's a great guy). But he wins so plenty of people are willing to overlook that and just call him a great competitor.

I personally think guys like that are good for the game. Scotty is an amazing golfer, but he has about as much charisma as a burned out light bulb. If the entire field was like Scotty, we'd have the highest level of golf we've ever had and also the most boring.

Yeah, it was the grabbing the phone of a fan who who was filming him and telling the fans to shut the fuck up, but upon reflection I think my perception of Rory has been unduly influenced by isolated events so I will take back my characterization of him as being a jerk.

I am still hoping that an American will win the Masters today.

The only times I’ve seen Rory act aggressively towards anyone was when they were aggressive towards him first. And he’s always very open and thoughtful w his interactions w the press.

I concede. Rory is a good guy who overreacted to being heckled by the fans during the Ryder Cup.

I hope the Masters fans will treat him with the respect he deserves today for being a previous Masters winner.
