James Talarico is a former 6th grade teacher. So, how long before the GOP digs up someone who says Talarico sexually molested her when she was in the 6th grade? Remember, we are talking about Texas Republicans. I'm thinking the Texas GOP had their "witness" ready to go before the primary but decided to hold her in reserve until around the middle of October. As a rule, Republicans are absolute amoral asshats. Texas Republicans look at what the GOP does in other states and in Washington and say, "Hold my beer." Thing is, this hypothetical abuse victim, probably will be an actual abuse victim, just not at the hand of James Talarico. And whatever problems this hypothetical abuse victim has now, they will be dwarfed by what happens after the Texas GOP convinces her to lie about who abused her. Keeping lies consistent is always a much harder job than keeping the truth straight. While the "truth" can be messy and nuanced, the urge to "improve" on lies is almost irresistible, once facts arise that contradict the penumbra of the lies.
Though this is a possibility, I would have thought the GOP would have done the same to Walz - only the lie would have involved a high schooler... a 9th grader perhaps. Same sort of smear campaign. But Walz had too many former students and players who stood up for him, not against him.

Dig up someone? Maybe I have missed something, but actually digging up someone doesn't seem to stop them from making accusations.

There's no doubt that Page would be a MAGA turd, but he wouldn't have nearly the power or influence over legislation that Berger currently has. Seeing Berger lose would be karma for all of the damage he's done to public ed, state workers generally, and the environment in this state, among other things. Having said that, with his deep pockets and access to high-powered Raleigh lawyers I expect that if he does finish trailing Page by a handful of votes that Berger will fight Page to the bitter end to hang on to his state senate seat, and hence his position as majority leader.

In a recap of the Berger-Page race, the best outcome I heard was a tie.

If it’s a tie, it’s another election!
