AI Chat Preference

I used it a decent amount in 23/2024 and here and there through the year but have pretty much stopped using any Ai or Ai assistance whatsoever.

I use Gemini quite a bit. It can be helpful with various things and the Google integrations are useful.

I find GPT to be annoying.

But all of them, well it's interesting, because after long conversations they just get weird. I'm doing vacation planning and then Gemini started asking about hotel options for the three kids (I have 1) and then mentioning me flying into a random city.. It was drunk

ChatGPT mainly. I still find it all fascinating.

It might be the end of civilization as we know it but until then I'm gonna use it to lighten my workload as much as possible.

I tried using Gemini to try to plan a trip recently. It led to a few useful high-level suggestions but I beyond that I found it too tedious for making a fully fleshed out itinerary.

Lot of people I work with use it for drafting emails. I draw the line there lol. Think it’s sad that people are too lazy to type out their own thoughts.

I use Chat GPT most but that is probably because it was the first major model and it originally subbed for google search. I think Claude is currently the best model of the four major models. I haven't used Perplexity much but the app sits on my phone. My only interaction with Gemini is via Google and Grok via X.

I use Chat GPT quite a bit and it is stirring how completely incorrect it can be for obvious questions while being very precise for harder inquiries.

- I might ask it to tell me what date I should visit a museum and it will tell me a date when the museum is closed because it assumed that date wasn't a day the museum is regularly closed.
- Meanwhile I could ask it to help me find an ATM in Bangkok that will accept a Diners Club card and it will find that one ATM in the whole city and it will direct me to it on foot in the middle of a mall. It's quite remarkable how specific it can be.

I don't pay for any of these models so perhaps the accuracy and service is better if you shell out for the monthly subs.

The second I realize I am reading an email that was drafted using AI, I press reply and say "I am not reading this unless you write it yourself"

I try to use none of it. When pressed, I will use chatgpt.

I use it to improve emails/communication not create them.

I would actually suggest running communications through one. It's really good at cleaning up language and correcting spelling/grammar errors.

It is true that AI is taking away the advantages that being a good writer brings, on the other side it can help those who struggle with putting their thoughts into a coherent message.

Are you worried about communication or someone's writing prowess?

Isn't getting the information you need the desired outcome?

Not the poster but I agree with the sentiment.
If I notice anything written by AI I also immediately dismiss it, especially an email. I'd be pretty snarky in a reply.

Getting the information I need from a human is the desired outcome for me. I am not going to communicate with anyone who doesnt have the respect to talk to me directly. That's a personal choice. If someone has an inability to communicate directly that is very different. I do not desire perfect communication. I read through bad grammar, poor spelling and lack of coherence daily to get to the root of an issue. I have no problem whatsoever with that. I have huge issue with purtight plagiarism which is all AI has become for a huge swath of people.

Yeah it can certainly be useful when used that way. To be blunt, it’s a pride thing for me. I have to use AI a lot for other things at work already and using it to help with my writing just feels like a bridge too far. I’d rather force myself to think through what I’m actually trying to convey.
