American political violence — Is there an off-ramp?

I think the violence will continue to be sporadic, escalate perhaps, but for the near term I don't see how it leads to something coordinated.

The problem is no off-ramp for America authoritarianism, and that really started with Trump's "they're bringing crime, they're rapists" speech. This appealed to many tens of millions of White Americans, some that never had bothered to vote, stung and shocked by Obama, and that faction of hate is carved in granite now as a new and reliable voting block in this country for emergent Republican fascism. Democratic voters have been less enthusiastic to vote, for a myriad of small and ignorant reasons.

The other point, bigger figuratively and literally, is touched on by Zoo View above: the right wing billionaires who are content to use the votes of White racists/White Christians (the Venn overlap there being immense) to ever consolidate and advance their power, and in some part to simply enjoy--rather like the Romans at the Coliseum long ago--the little people rage around helplessly. It's a lot like kids killing ants with a magnifying glass, watch them struggle, suffer and burn. Musk is the best example of this, but there are so many others like him.

These campaigns appealed to the hate and fear that white bigots felt about minority groups. It is a tried and true strategy employed by the GQP.

Now the country club GQPers and the GQP 10%ers couldn't give a rats ass about the "threat" of the other, because they know its bullshit but they are happy to stoke the divide and distracting the white working class from which party is not improving their material lives.

I've posted this joke before but it bears repeating...

She walked to her car and the man was spitting on a sticker she has on her back window. She asked what he was doing and it escalated to the wife jumping out and threatening to beat her ass.

It was very upsetting for my wife. Someone who witnessed it called security and the police and luckily she used her camera, so these idiots will be getting a visit from the police.

......that photo of her is quite clearly from a glamour event, some sort of awards ceremony or the met gala or something.

she doesn't wear an extreme amount of makeup. lipstick and mascara pretty regularly but that isn't remotely uncommon with a lot of women.

my mom likes her and showed me her appearance on the kelce bro's podcast and she was wearing very little if any makeup.

she's one of those people who we see a TON of pictures of related to her public appearances but we probably don't see a lot of how she looks in her regular, every day life. probably less makeup and yeah, of course she can afford the best products and best makeup artists to work on her.

i was mostly just shocked and laughing at you focused on her freaking makeup rather than the fact that she had a bulletproof barrier.

I stopped after someone took a Kerry/Edwards magnet off the back of my car, cut it into pieces and threw it around the parking lot. My husband was so mad he found all the bits and reassembled it on my car and I drove around with the obviously reassembled magnet through the election. I decided against in the future in part to avoid some escalation to my car being vandalized instead of just a magnet, but also because my husband was so mad — talking about how he would pummel the punk that did it if he found him — that I was worried he might have been tempted to do something rash had we seen the minor vandalism, and I didn’t really want to have to deal with that.
