I believe ICE was already there and trump called up the National Guard to "supplement" ICE in an effort to instigate riots so he could declare "Marshall" law or some shit. Gov Newsom, Mayor Bass, and local law enforcement handled things well and didn't take the bait. (if I'm remembering and reading it correctly)

To be fair, those men and women were called up to perform this duty, many of them ripped away from their own families and jobs to form human shields around ICE raids. There may have been some bad actors among them in performing their duties but on the whole they are just pawns whose dedication to their country was abused by this domestic deployment.

I meant that now that ICE has increased funding, those personnel will be utilized in lieu of military troops that may not be as zealous in their support for the immigration agenda.
