Supposedly internal polling indicates they aren’t getting much return on Biden attacks (outside ravenous MAGA base) anymore — in part because the dissonance between claiming he was an evil super-villain and a mentally incompetent dotard (and possibly a clone-bot). From what I’ve read, the goal is to turn the focus on Biden staffers as people to punish and otherwise turn fire on current Democratic villains.

Biden’s cancer diagnosis and general frailty also makes him a tough target.

Trump will never get over his deep and seething hatred of Biden, but even he has updated his rhetoric to Biden being a helpless victim of deep state staffer pulling a Weekend at Bernie’s on America. It is why he loves the Autopen angle now.

It will be interesting to see the optics. Do they keep a low profile by just guarding federal buildings in downtown LA, or do they ride shotgun on ICE raids. Do they use military style equipment like Humvees, or do they largely stay outside of vehicles. My guess is it will be very low profile. But, we could also have this:

All the tanks are in DC for Trump’s birthday party, right? (I kid — but do Marine battalions even use tanks anymore? I thought the Corps have been phasing out their already sort of ad hoc use of tanks?)
