I actually like Andrew Sullivan and thought that was a well-written piece, but I can't disagree with this post, particularly the last few sentences...
It is a well-written piece and it does lay out the case against Trump well.

It just doesn't matter at all because words aren't going to stop Trump and his administration.

Admittedly, I'm pretty cynical right now, so that probably has something to do with it.

Well, short of something that others in here have been admonished against suggesting or even hoping for, words are all we've got. Court cases? All words. Politics? Ditto. Film? Books? The internet? The Constitution? The bible? Same. Again, short of physical violence, words are the reality we live in. Look at this place...

Court cases, if adequately enforced by the appropriate authorities, are actions, not words. Votes are actions, not words. Protests are action, not words. Engaging with friends and family about the problems that Trump presents are actions, not words.

These are "just words" because there is nothing that forces Trump or others to engage with the thoughts presented. They are merely put out into the void and they don't demand any sort of reaction or response from Trump or those who cater to him. A lot of words that are "just words" have been put out against Trump and they've done nearly nothing to impact the terrible things he's done and doing to our country and society.
