Anyone live in Delaware? My wife was pondering moving there?

I think I would like to move west, maybe Washington state.

I've only lived in NC and GA my entire life. It might be time for a change.

Honestly, I keep trying to game out in my head how the future will look. There’s short term problems (authoritarian, right wing country that is loaded with guns) and long term problems (climate change, AI, possible water shortage). I feel like now is the time to move (New Zealand perhaps?) but there are too many ethical obligations I feel to my parents and other family members at the moment. So instead, my husband and I just took some money out of the stock market to improve our house and will sit here with the other frogs in the pot of warm water. I keep trying to tell myself that it won’t be as dark as I am projecting… but it’s all so heavy right now.

Interesting to hear how we all process. My partner and I permanently canceled some heavy renovation investments - permits, contractors, suppliers all lined up to go.

I've heard this "I'm moving" after nearly every election the Democrats lose, especially since 2016. Of course the great majority of Democratic voters don't have a choice to leave the country, it's not a possibility for several reasons. There has already been a movement for some time of liberals to blue states and conservatives to red (especially Texas and Florida) states, and I expect that movement will definitely increase after this election.

While moving to a blue state will certainly help, I think it's not a long-term solution, because once Republicans gain control of all three branches of the federal government they're going to pass national laws (say, like a national abortion ban) that will affect blue states as well as red states. Personally I don't blame anyone for moving to a blue state, especially anyone who is a member of the LGBTQ community or who has children who are members, but in the long run the only true way to end the threat posed by Trumpism is either to leave the country completely or vote them out of office. And as the first option is a realistic possibility for only relatively small number of people, rebuilding the Democratic Party and eventually voting these people out of office is the only realistic option.

We were going to leave NC if obergeffel didn't go our way. Then the federal law 3 years ago really helped. So we will stay in NC but I would love to be in Vermont.

I would really like to be in New Zealand

Been planning on a post-retirement move overseas for a while now. Portugal is the likely destination.

Not based on the election, more the general decay of America and the cost of living. Plus the adventure.

We just had that same discussion - hoarding money our doing the renovation. We decided to push forward knowing that prices are going to go up after the election.

Good chance I’ll have an opportunity to move to London in the next few years for a neat career advancement opportunity within my company.
I spent three years stationed near Southampton. My family and I absolutely loved it. If I had a job, I'd move back tomorrow. Traveling to Europe is different now post Brexit but it's worth the extra effort.

I respect that lots and lots of folks have much more tying them to this American experience than I. I hope you have the smoothest possible experience.

I know my timing looks like that, but I've been wanting to move for awhile.

I've been watching the job postings at my company for at least a year, but haven't found one yet.
