Bahama Heel

I thought this was about a Carolina fan from northern Durham.
I saw the thread and came to post the same damn thing!

But yeah, don't fuck around with Rick Fox! I saw an article earlier about some dude beefing with Rick about his tent at a rally or some shit. My money was on Rick in that exchange...

My best memory of Rick Fox was one in which I wasn’t there.

My girlfriend went to a party at the ATO House with one of her girlfriends. Her friend had a major crush on an ATO.

She was sitting on the stairs and this tall guy kept creeping on her. She found her girlfriend and left.

The tall guy was Rick Fox.

I know a woman that tells a very similar tale.
A little bit later, we met at Hardback.

You might have served us Bass Ales.

Prior to that, she was 20 and we’d go into Hardback and I’d have a Bass or two and she’d have coffee…..we’d met at Aurora (I was a wait and she was the weekend cocktail wait). We never tried to underage her in any bar/restaurant. We just waited a few months.

We were likely in Hardback 2-3 times a week.

Well, I used to hit Aurora and have a beer it two with Herb and Joe pretty often. You know that Herb had Cuervo in his coffee cup.

Appreciate y’all not trying to sneak a drink.

Joe Farrington or Fearrington.

A good bartender and a really nice person. Loved sports, especially the NFL. Lived a bit out on N. Greensboro Street……about where it curved West/NW. Had a beautiful dog, Loki, and a hot, HOT girlfriend.

I don’t remember Herb. Hank was the manager and then the owner/manager.

Did Hank have tequila in his coffee?

Oh no - not Hank.

That’s the Joe alright.

Here’s a fairly recent photo of Herb.

I figured you weren’t talking about Hank.

Didn’t know Herb.

A guy named Brian Kennedy tended bar for 15-18 months when I was there. He was an art major who painted really elongated humans. He and I rock-climbed together for several months. Talk, angular strawberry blonde guy.

Those were some good times when it seemed the hours, days, and nights were longer and much more full of leisure and fellowship.
