I am looking for traditional daily and long form (magazine) news media sources. Other than LinkedIn I don’t have social media…..and don’t want them (have had FB, Twitter, and Reddit). Looking for fair, balanced, intelligent, and courageous reporting. What are you folks consuming now? Any recommendations?

Associated Press is good. International Business Journal and the Economist for a different perspective. Pew Foundation for surveys and polls. Then Google and cross reference the hell out of things. I fact check and fact check the fact checkers. Did I ever mention that I'm a skeptic?

I would recommend you also look into some independent media that isn’t owned by corporations or billionaires.

Depending how left-wing you are, check out Jacobin Magazine, Zeteo, and Dropsite News.

The traditional liberal magazines still often have much better analysis than the liberal newspapers of record, and especially compared to cable TV.

I'd agree on Reuters and the BBC, and the Guardian is also good. In the US the Associated Press still presents straight news in an unbiased manner. I actually think that Spectrum News is pretty good and straightforward for local and state news, especially when compared to the big news networks or Sinclair Media. Overall the pickings in America for straight news that is accurate is getting awfully slim.

Reuters. AP. BBC, PBS, NPR.
These are trusted sources.
“Legacy” news sources (print and TV/Cable) have already been usurped by big money and are compromised. That’s been obvious this election cycle.

I've lost a lot of confidence in PBS.

I hear you… and understand… I think… any specifics or concrete reasons? or is it just an over all “feeling” that they bo-sided along with other legacy media… making Harris be “flawless” while allowing trump to be lawless?

Just an overall feeling of double standards. I despise the CYA mentality when confronted by bullies. Too much of this in me.

Thanks all. I have gotten a subscription to Reuters. Still deciding on the long form decision.
