Biorhythms for Carolina @Virginia: Noon Start

Actually I think we had 3 in first two minutes 1 the rest of game. We scored 52 pts on 31 possessions in second half with 1TO. Imagine if they had been well coached.

And one of those was after Wilson had forced a UVA turnover and was racing up court and stepped out of bounds -- looked to me like he was bumped out by a Cavalier.

It is more than a little odd that we have had so many games with high TOs in first 10 minutes and low TOs last 20.

That was a pattern in almost every game at the beginning of the year. It is almost like the team isn’t ready for the defenses from the get go and need 10 minutes of awkwardness to understand what the other team is doing.
Agree and it is concerning. I have said I wish we would do more fill court pressing early. When we do we seem to get in better flow offensively. We have the Big 3 and five guys to figure out other two spots. So we got depth.

Jesucristo, I wasn't able to sync up the radio with the tv and tried briefly to listen to the talking heads. Just can't do it. Corey whatshisname and random other guy were blathering idiots. I just couldn't do it. I tend not to...going on 10 years mainly muting.
Totally get it.
They kept calling de Ridder “Tess” haha. But I will give them a pass. How else would an ignorant American pronounce a name like Thijs?

Also think we have gotten better in half court and having fewer possessions without a good look, not having to force at end of clock. I think it's clear Caleb has been told if the double comes get rid of it and today at least I saw little hesitancy to take first good look from anyone.

It’s actually short for Matthijs… which is Matthew in English.
We say “Matt” for short. In Holland (yes that includes Belgium) they say Thijs.

I know this, as a close friend of mine from Leiden is named Thijs.

Start Powell over Young next game. Only player in rotation that hasn’t been a starter

He is the 3P threat that Young is and gives you more size. It works next to two ball handlers Dixon/Trimble

Play Young/Evans off the bench as needed from there to fill in the 1/2

This place is pretty good for game threads.

No Brownie.
For some reason I can’t remember Brownie being really bad on game threads, but I very much remember how he was on the Harrison Barnes announcement thread. For a couple hours before Barnes announced, Brownie was convinced Barnes was committing to Duke, and he called him every bad thing he could think of. He went for complete character assassination. And then Barnes committed to UNC and he took it all back. It was a clear sign to me that he needed to take a break from watching/following college basketball.

That seems inevitable.

Guy on IC started thread about why did Hubert bring in high before Stevenson. This is such a level of stupidity. It's incredible. I'm going with to motivate Stevenson. Great coaching there.

Hubert did that against Notre Dame, too. Not sure why myself, but in the end Stevensen had a monster second half.

Any fan site as big as IC is going to have an abundance of sunshine pumpers and serial complainers, both of which are equally annoying. I can see why some would be turned off by this but there are still a lot of great posters on there with a balanced viewpoint. For me I've made my feelings on HD clear and this game doesn't change my outlook, but I could never root against the Heels and am ecstatic for a win.

Well if you are happy ought to act like it. Especially after one of our best wins in 4 seasons if not the best. I mean if the standard is that the substitution pattern early in first half is an issue when we rally from 16 down with 22 minutes left to win, my guess is the Hubert haters will never run out of things to whine about. I mean, we will lose again so be patient. WWDD.

Beg pardon. Not Holland, but Belgium. Flemish all the same in that neck of the woods.
And will add in regards to de Ridder: it’s not “Tess” as the play by play and color guy kept saying. It’s pronounced “Tice”.
"The usual pronunciation isn't the one that the PA announcer at the arena and the coaching staff uses.

When he signed, the UVA release said it was pronounced Tess, also Ryan Odom called him Tess as well, and I would certainly hope that coach knows his name, lol."

""Tess" seems to be the official pronunciation that UVA has been using. I've heard it directly from Coach Odom and seen it spelled that way from multiple UVA sports writers. The commentators from the first game explicitly said that's how Coach Odom advised them to pronounce it, and I would assume the broadcast crew for each game is likewise given a pronunciation guide for all the players where it's presumably noted as "Tess". I'm also assuming that Thijs has had a say in how it should be pronounced, and that if it were actually "Tice" Coach Odom would not be saying "Tess" and writing it out as "Tess" in the phonetic guides. So I'm inclined to give Bilas a pass on this one since he's just following the official guidelines."
