I think the idea is that NCAA victories are not very predictive, as they are kind of random. For instance, in 22 we had an unusually easy path to the Final Four, given that we played a 15 seed in the Elite Eight.

Regular season results tend to be more predictive year to year (i.e. more stable).
They also beat a 1 seed in Baylor.

Beating a 15,9, 4, and 1 is a fairly typical trip to a FF.

Well, literally only an 8 seed can do it, and 8 seeds making the FF are atypical.

But I get your point, and I'd respond: 1). I was merely looking at the S16 game, to illustrate a point I would think most of us would know; and 2) that's a pretty easy trip for the 8 seed. The 1 seed is almost always chalk in every bracket, so the only chalk was UCLA and that was erased by St Peters.

I'm sure we're in agreement and this is just technicalities

Plus they beat a 2 seed dook in the semis.

I can't freaking believe we're on page 34 of a game thread when the game ended on page 5, and most of the additional 29 pages is not celebrating a great win, but fans who feel entitled to better results discussing the need for a different coach.

Carolina is 16-4 with wins over Kansas, at Kentucky, and at Virginia. Would you all have been happier if Carolina were 16-4 with victories at SMU, at Stanford, and at California with losses to Kansas at Kentucky, and at Virginia?

If Carolina wins the national championship, I can hear some of you now: Oh no, now we won't be able to get rid of him for another 5 years.

And this is why I advocated for a Coach Davis catch all thread so that each and every Ritmos/game thread wouldn’t devolve into this shite. Better to have it all out on a thread of its on, I say. But what do I know?
