Biorhythms for dook @UNC: 6:30 Start

Vessarr getting fouled and dook overturning the out of bounds early in the game, not to mention boozer dragging his pivot foot a quarter mile on every post move and not being called.
I'm having trouble getting used to the idea that the ball handler being able to advance using a forearm shiver. That's not just this game, either. It was bad enough when you could just fend them off that way.

I remember that game well - UNC had lost the ACC championship game to dook the previous year in close, tough, heartbreaking game (I think the score was 65-61) and we really needed that 1989 win over dook. That was a really rough, intense, physical game. I watched the game at my grandparent's house and after it was over I went outside and just yelled "YEAH!". A really good day, back when winning the ACC Tournament still meant something.
Unfortunately, it didn't matter enough for dook AD and NCAAT committee member [perhaps chairman that year] Tom Butters to get dook placed as the 2 seed in the East while we were shipped to the [then] Southeast as the 3 seed. Still pisses me off.

I think that we will be ranked 10th on Monday and Dook will go up one place in both polls!
I was wrong, we were at best 11th in AP and Dook didn't move at all. In the Coaches we are 13th and Dook fell 2 spots. That's going to make Lunardi mad.

I was riding back from Atlanta after that ACCT win and listening to the announcement on the radio. I was so pissed about getting the 2-seed (not the 3-seed - Michigan was the 3-seed) in the SE that I demanded my then boyfriend (now husband) pull over so I could call into the radio show to unload on this particular bit of seeding hypocrisy but he (correctly) did not pull over at a pay phone. LOL.

And on top of that we got seeded to face Michigan again for the third season in a row. This time, in 1989, Michigan beat us in the Sweet 16 en route to a surprise natty.

I was at that game in Rupp. Rice couldn't miss and J.R couldn't make a free throw.

Also, I was at that heartbreaking loss to dook in the ‘88 ACCT. sitting in the end zone student section. King Rice missed the layup right in front of us to tie the game with under 20 seconds left. I thought Rice got fouled but dook would’ve had the ball with plenty of time to score. But dammit. That hurt.

Don't think this UNC edit of the final shot montage has been posted yet. My favorite part starts at 40 seconds. Roy with the arms in the air, then Sarr disappearing into the UNC bench, then Henri looking up at the clock to see how much time was left, then Jarin looking for somebody to hug, then the cheerleader tears, then Theo thinking he was back in college again.
